4-Time NBA Champion John Salley Played in Some Weird Movies After He Retired

John Salley is one of the most accomplished players that played in the NBA. He was the first player in NBA history to win an NBA title with three different franchises. He and Tim Duncan are the only two players to win titles in three different decades.

Salley played on some successful teams, and when his NBA career was over, he had success off the court. He tapped into his acting skills and has played in many movies.

John Salley’s NBA career

In the 1986 NBA draft, the Detroit Pistons selected Salley in the first round. That’s when his career began. Salley was a member of the ‘Bad Boys’ team that won back-to-back championships in 1989 and 1990. At 6-feet-11, Salley used his length to be a valuable asset when he came into the league.

He was never a player who had a breakout game, but he always played his role and did what he had to do to help his team win. Salley spent his first six seasons in Detroit, and during his last season with the team in 1992, he averaged the most points of his career at 9.5 points per game.

After his career in Detroit, Salley spent three years with the Miami Heat and then one season with the Toronto Raptors. Salley would not get his third championship until he joined the Chicago Bulls during the 1995-96 season. He joined a loaded team with Michael Jordan, who was the best player in basketball, and Scottie Pippen. That season the Bulls finished with a 72-10 season, which was the best-ever regular-season record at the time. The record would eventually be broken by the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors team that went 73-9. The title that the Bulls won in 1996 was their fourth overall.

After spending one season with the Bulls, Salley took a three-year hiatus from the NBA. When he returned to the league, he joined another loaded team in the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers would go on to win the 2000 NBA championship to give Salley his fourth title. That was Salley’s last season in the league.

Life after basketball

Salley was someone who enjoyed having the camera on him while he was playing. When he retired, he found himself in front of the camera yet again. Salley did appear in a movie during his NBA career. He had a role in the ‘Bad Boys’ movie, which came out in 1995. He would then have a role in ‘Bad Boys 2’ as well, which came out in 2003.

Salley has been in a plethora of shows and movies after his NBA career was over. Whether it was guest appearances on shows or small roles in movies, Salley made sure that he was staying busy in the entertainment world.

John Salley was in some weird movies

There’s a lengthy list of movies that Salley has been in throughout his career. Some were pretty good movies and others, not so good. There are a few movies that he was in that will make you ask, what was he doing in that movie?

In 2010 he was in a movie called ‘Something Like a Business.’ The movie starred Kevin Hart, and it was a pretty low budget. It was about an escorting service that Hart took over when his uncle passed, and Salley had a small role in the movie. He played a deacon from a church, and you did not see him until the middle to end of the film.

Another movie that he had a role in was ‘Ladies Night.’ This was more of a thriller and a mystery movie. It was about a woman who disappeared after making a withdrawal for a large amount of money. That movie came out in 2005. These two movies weren’t big ones for Salley, but he had a variety of different movies he played in. Some had success, and others didn’t.
