Aaron Jones’ Latest Comments Should Get Green Bay Packers Fans Extremely Excited

After having a breakout year in 2019, Aaron Jones is off to a fantastic start with the Green Bay Packers in the 2020 NFL season. During the Packers’ Week 2 win over the Detroit Lions, he had an absolutely massive game and just couldn’t be stopped. It will ultimately be hard for Jones and the Packers to follow what they did last season. They were one of the best teams in the entire NFL. However, Jones just said something that should get Packers fans very excited.

Aaron Jones and the Green Bay Packers were excellent in 2019

The Packers got a steal in Jones in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL draft. After he ran for 448 yards on 81 attempts in 2017, and then 728 yards on 133 attempts in 2018, Jones had a breakout season in 2019 with the Packers.

He ultimately ran for 1,084 yards and an NFL-leading 16 touchdowns that year. Jones was also a threat in the Packers’ passing game that season as he had 49 catches for 474 yards and three touchdowns.

The Packers were also an excellent team in 2019. After having losing seasons in both of the 2017 and 2018 seasons, Green Bay went 13-3 in 2019 and went all the way to the NFC Championship Game. In the playoffs, the Packers beat the Seattle Seahawks 28-23 in the Divisional Round but lost to the San Francisco 49ers 37-20 in the NFC Championship Game.

Jones played well in the playoffs too, as he had three rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown.

Being one of the last four teams left can be difficult to repeat. However, the Packers are off to an excellent start in 2020.

He and the Packers are off to a 2-0 start in the 2020 NFL season

Green Bay looked very good in their Week 1 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Jones played well as he ran for 66 yards and a touchdown. That game, though, was more of the Aaron Rodgers show. Rodgers threw for 364 yards and four touchdowns in the game.

However, in the Packers’ Week 2 win over the Detroit Lions, it was entirely the Aaron Jones show. Jones ran 168 yards and two touchdowns on 18 attempts, and he also caught four passes for 68 yards and a touchdown.

“That’s pretty amazing,” Rodgers said of Jones’ performance, according to The Athletic. “He’s such a talented guy, does so many things for our offense. It was obvious that the game plan was to take Davante [Adams] out. He was doubled very heavily the majority of the time he was outside, so we got the run game going. … Jonesy, he’s such a game-breaker.”

Green Bay offensive lineman Rick Wagner also praised Jones’ play.

“Something really special about him is the way he can break arm tackles,” Wagner said, according to The Athletic. “In the NFL, you’ve got to be able to break those arm tackles because the D-linemen are so skilled, you know they’re going to be reaching for him. But that really doesn’t faze him. He can get to the second level, no problem.”

So, now that Jones and the Packers are off to an incredible start — how good are they this year?

Aaron Rodgers Has Packers Fans Raving About What He Just Said

According to ProFootballTalk‘s Mike Florio, he asked Jones after the game if the Packers are better this year than they were last year.

Jones’ response? He reportedly said, without hesitation, “definitely.” According to Florio, Jones said that the team knows Matt LaFleur’s offense better this year and knows how to run the plays the way they are supposed to be run.

Additionally, even though Rodgers had a nice year in 2019 by throwing for 4,002 yards, 26 touchdowns, and four interceptions, Jones said that Rodgers is “more focused,” according to Florio.

That’s pretty scary.

Aaron Jones, Aaron Rodgers, and the Green Bay Packers were an excellent team in 2019. If they are even better this year, though, then the rest of the NFC should be very afraid and Packers fans should be very excited.
