Aaron Rodgers’ Teammate Airs Another Concerning Detail That Should Worry the Packers
The Green Bay Packers remain entirely engulfed in the constant chatter around Aaron Rodgers. Since the star quarterback privately voiced he wants to move on, the front office has publicly backed him as the franchise’s future. However, one of Rodgers‘ teammates has now thrown in another concerning wrinkle.
Aaron Rodgers’ uncertain future with the Packers
The Packers’ offseason has been filled with uncertainty directly correlated to Rodgers’ future.
The bubble finally burst after the 37-year-old privately aired his desire to leave. Since then, Green Bay has repeatedly publicly backed Rodgers as their future under center.
General manager Brian Gutekunst has also gone as far as to state that the relationship can be amended. However, the Packers’ damage control hasn’t particularly moved the situation toward a resolution.
A growing belief is festering that Rodgers may get his wish before the 2021 season. His favorite passing game target has now added another intriguing layer.
Aaron Rodgers’ star teammate airs another concerning detail that should worry the Packers
The Packers can’t escape the lingering drama around their star quarterback.
All-Pro wideout Davante Adams ruffled those feathers again by bringing forth another wrinkle. During an interview on The Herd with Colin Cowherd on Monday, he shed light on the continued disconnect.
“A lot is still being figured out on his end,” Adams said. “It’s tough for me to get into specifics and speak on it. Honestly, I would too. I can’t wait to tell you that he’s back and that we’re back to doing our thing that we been doing, but for now we got to iron out a few things.
“Hopefully, I will be back on the show and we’ll be celebrating taking shots and what not.”
The star wideout has chosen to leave out many internal issues behind closed doors. However, his comments alone suggest that a massive gap lies between Rodgers and the front office.
Adams also stirred the pot a bit by stating that Rodgers’ fate may significantly impact his future.
“We’ve established a lot together,” Adams said. “It would change a lot. It doesn’t mean I’d be gone, but I’d definitely have to do some extra thinking if my guy wasn’t here.”
The 28-year-old contract runs through the 2021 season, making Rodgers’ conflict that much more vital to amend. At the start of free agency, there was building traction toward an extension with the star wideout. The latest twist in Rodgers’ situation likely halted those talks.
Like his star quarterback, Adams wants to stay in Green Bay for the long haul, but that future holds no clarity.
Green Bay holds a franchise-changing decision ahead
The Packers may have a much bigger problem on their hands.
Adams’ comments about his future should raise plenty of red flags. If Green Bay doesn’t view Rodgers as the long-term answer, many other players could lose interest in staying or signing with the team.
Adams’ public admission is quite telling about what Rodgers’ teammates think of him. The 37-year-old has taken Green Bay to great heights since becoming the face of the franchise.
Rodgers knows that he has plenty left in the tank to perform at an elite level. The Packers have yet to showcase they feel the same way beyond their words to the media.
Until that changes, the future Hall of Famer may have played his last down with Green Bay.
