Antonio Brown Is the Receiver the Eagles Desperately Need to Jump Start Their Offense

Antonio Brown has not played football in over a year. But the wide receiver is not ready to hang the cleats up just yet. There are teams across the league that can use a receiver like Brown. One team, in particular, is the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles are in first place in the NFC East with a 1-2-1 record. That pretty much sums up the NFC East right there. With Brown on the Eagles, he can give the offense a much-needed boost.

Antonio Brown has had a lot of success throughout his career

During his prime years, Brown was one of the best receivers in the NFL. He spent the majority of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers and had a lot of success there. During the 2014 season, he led the league in receptions (129) and receiving yards (1,698). He also finished with 13 touchdowns that year too. Brown was a top target for Ben Roethlisberger in Pittsburgh.

The seven-time Pro Bowler made many big plays throughout his career and was a physical receiver. Defensive backs had difficulties preventing Brown from getting open, but he would find ways to find the open spot on the field and make himself available for the quarterback. He led the league in receptions and receiving yards twice and led the league once in touchdown receptions throughout his career.

Brown is a competitor on the field, and he always wants to put his team in a position to win games. On offense, if the team needed a big play, they knew they could turn to Brown, and he would find a way to get open. Brown currently has 841 receptions for 11,263 yards and 75 receiving touchdowns.

The NFC East can’t get any worse in 2020

A team in the NFC East could certainly use a player like Brown. Even though the Eagles are under .500, they still are in first place in the division. No team in the division has more than one win, and the teams in the NFC East have not got off to a good start. The Washington Football Team and the Dallas Cowboys have the same record at 1-3, and the New York Giants are in last place with an 0-4 record. It is very possible that whoever wins the NFC East will have a losing record.

The NFC East is the only division in the NFL where all the teams have losing records. Now that could change being that it’s early in the season. But this is not the start that the teams wanted to have. There is one thing for certain about the NFC East, and that’s the fact that any team has the chance to win the division. It’s wide open and will probably stay like that throughout the remainder of the season.

Why Antonio Brown to the Eagles makes sense

Brown was suspended eight games for the 2020 season, so he’ll be able to play during Week 9. There’s no telling where the Eagles will be by then, but having a veteran player like Brown could help a lot. In an article from wblzmedia.com, it talked about how Brown playing for the Eagles would make sense.

Having Brown on the team will boost the Eagles offense and add another weapon on the field. When Desean Jackson and Alshon Jefferey are back healthy, adding Brown to the mix would make the receiving core that much better. If the Eagles want to win the division and make a deep run in the playoffs, having Brown for those final seven or eight games of the regular season would help out.

The Eagles don’t have many weapons on offense and Brown could quickly fill that void. Miles Sanders is a threat at the running back position, but the team will need threats in the air as well. It will be interesting to see if Brown is picked up by any team at all.
