Antonio Brown Wouldn’t Even Be the Ravens’ Best Addition Offensively This Offseason

People had already begun to wonder if the Baltimore Ravens could sign Antonio Brown. Then, Brown added fuel to the fire recently by posting a photo of himself in a Ravens uniform on Snapchat, according to Sports Illustrated. Adding Brown would make the already explosive Ravens offense even more lethal. However, the Ravens have already added a better piece to their offense this offseason.

Antonio Brown could go to the Baltimore Ravens

There continues to be rumors about Antonio Brown signing with the Baltimore Ravens. However, he wouldn't even be their best addition in 2020.

Throughout his career, Antonio Brown has been one of the best wide receivers to ever play. Brown has been a seven-time Pro Bowl selection, and a four-time first-team All-Pro. He has also led the NFL in receptions and receiving yards twice. Brown has 11,263 receiving yards in his career to go with 841 receptions, and 75 touchdown catches. He, however, only played in one game in 2019 due to some off-the-field issues.

A lot of people have recently begun to wonder if the Baltimore Ravens, who went 14-2 last year behind the play of MVP Lamar Jackson, could add Brown to their already high-powered offense. This started when a video came out of Jackson throwing to Brown in Florida, according to Sports Illustrated.

“I’d be happy if they signed him,” Jackson said, according to Sports Illustrated. “He’s a great player. He showed it each and every year when he was with the Steelers in the past, but it’s not my decision.”

Additionally, Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta did not confirm or deny the team’s interest in Brown when he was asked about it, according to Sports Illustrated. Brown then recently posted the photo on Snapchat, which made the rumors seem even more serious.

The Ravens have already improved offensively by adding J.K. Dobbins

The Baltimore Ravens have already added a really talented weapon to their offense this offseason. They just drafted former Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft.

Dobbins had an excellent career at Ohio State, finishing No. 2 in school history in rushing yards. He was also arguably the best running back in the country in 2019, running for 2,003 yards and 21 touchdowns.

He came up big when it mattered most last season too. Dobbins ran for 157 yards and two touchdowns against Penn State, 211 yards and four TDs against Michigan, and 172 yards and one TD in the Big Ten Championship Game against Wisconsin. Those are three of the top programs in the Big Ten. Also, he ran for 174 yards against Clemson in the College Football Playoff while also catching six passes for 47 yards.

Adding Dobbins is huge for the Ravens, who ranked No. 1 in the NFL in points per game last season.

Dobbins is a better addition for the Ravens

Despite Antonio Brown already being a proven talent in the NFL, J.K. Dobbins is a better addition for the Ravens than what Brown would be if the team does end up adding him.

Brown is pretty unpredictable. He caused some headaches for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Oakland Raiders, and New England Patriots. That is why he only played in one game last season. Also, yes, Brown would be a primary option in 2020 while Dobbins will most likely be the RB2 behind Mark Ingram. However, Brown turns 32 years old in July, and Ingram, the Ravens’ starting running back, turns 31 in December.

Dobbins will be a big part of the Ravens’ future. Brown, most likely, would only be extremely effective in Baltimore for a few years.

If Antonio Brown can stay focused and not cause any problems, he could be an excellent addition for the Ravens in 2020. However, J.K. Dobbins will be a great addition for the Ravens in 2020 and in years to come.
