Browns QB Baker Mayfield Just Destroyed Colin Cowherd Without Having to Say 1 Word

Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield and Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd have no love for each other, dating back to Mayfield’s college days. Cowherd has never shied away from bashing the former No. 1 overall pick, and Mayfield has always fired back at the polarizing media personality.

At the beginning of the 2020 NFL season, Cowherd’s opinion of Mayfield appeared to be the correct one since the Browns’ signal-caller was struggling. However, after leading Cleveland to the playoffs and defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road in the Wild Card Round, Baker Mayfield savagely trolled Colin Cowherd during his postgame press conference.

Baker Mayfield and Colin Cowherd have a lot of history

The Browns drafted Baker Mayfield with the first overall pick in the 2018 draft out of Oklahoma. Colin Cowherd said the Texas native was undraftable due to his off-the-field incidents. A 2017 video of Mayfield running from police in Arkansas was the main reason why Cowherd said Baker was undraftable.

When Mayfield went on The Herd with Cowherd, the media veteran consistently talked down to Mayfield, questioned why he was making a documentary, and tried to paint him as a bad teammate due to his cocky personality and antics. Mayfield confidently defended himself against Cowherd and seemingly won Browns fans’ hearts before playing in his first game.

Cowherd, though, continued to bash Mayfield even after having him on his show. The Browns struggled during Mayfield’s first two years in the NFL, so Cowherd ripped the former Heisman Trophy winner on numerous occasions. The beginning of the 2020 season wasn’t kind to Mayfield either, as the gunslinger was throwing many interceptions.

However, the Browns went on a nice run after getting blown out by the Steelers in Week 6 and finished the season at 11-5. Mayfield became the first Cleveland quarterback since Tim Couch in 2002 to lead the franchise to the postseason. He also put up Pro Bowl numbers in the regular season by throwing for 3,563 yards and 26 touchdowns.

Colin Cowherd, though, continued to be petty by taking a gammy shot at Baker Mayfield before the Browns-Steelers Wild Card game.

Colin Cowherd questioned why Browns star wore his hat backward during a Zoom call

Colin Cowherd questioned why Baker Mayfield wore his hat backward during his press conference with reporters on Zoom. The pundit said it was bad news for the Browns.

“Interesting. Wearing his hat backwards,” Cowherd said. “What happened to Carson Wentz’s season when he went to the podium with his hat on backwards? Oh. You’re bad. The season unraveled.”

This was another lazy take by Cowherd. It’s clear he’s not a fan of Mayfield and will nitpick everything the Browns quarterback does, which is why Cleveland fans despise Cowherd and his show.

The Steelers were favored to defeat the Browns in the Wild Card game since they were playing at home. However, Mayfield played one of the best games of his career and led the Browns to a 48-37 win. He threw for 263 yards and three touchdowns.

After the monster road win, Baker Mayfield went after Colin Cowherd during his media session with reporters. However, the energetic quarterback didn’t mention Cowherd’s name and was still able to bash him.

During his media session with Browns reporters after the Steelers win, Baker Mayfield turned his hat backward, taking a huge shot at Colin Cowherd for his earlier comments. This troll job by Mayfield is exactly why Browns fans love him.

Baker Mayfield and the Browns will take on Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round. Once again, Cleveland will be heavy underdogs, but it appears that’s the way the team wants it to be.
