Bryce Mitchell Successfully Reattached His Scrotum After Tearing It in Half With a Power Drill: ‘Just Ripped ‘Em to Shreds’

UFC fighters are some of the toughest people in the world, and they have to be because it’s a tough sport. Like in other sports, UFC fighters routinely suffer some gruesome injuries, and that was the case for Bryce Mitchell. However, Mitchell’s horrific injury occurred outside of the octagon.

Born and raised in Arkansas, like most athletes, Mitchell has always been an athletic person. It didn’t take him long to graduate from competing in high school to fighting professionally. At the age of 20, he made his pro MMA debut in 2015, and it set the pace for what was to come. Mitchell combined his wrestling know-how with his Brazilian jiu-jitsu skills to choke out his foe.

Between his debut in 2015 to 2017, Mitchell racked up an undefeated 8-0 record. On top of that, he submitted every single one of his opponents. Not long after, the UFC caught wind of him and signed him up for a season of The Ultimate Fighter. Mitchell lost his second fight on the show, but since it wasn’t a real fight, it didn’t actually go on his record.

Regardless, he made his UFC debut in 2018, and he beat Tyler Diamond after a three-round bout. However, his career, and his life, almost ended right then and there.

Bryce Mitchell’s gnarly accident with a power drill

As MMA Fighting reports, in August 2018, Mitchell’s life almost came to an end. Like many Americans, he liked to fix things himself, and he was doing some work on the roof of a trailer. Mitchell carelessly placed the tip of a power drill in his pants, and he pressed the trigger before he knew what was happening.

That power drill proceeded to do some serious damage to his loins. According to MMA Fighting, he said, “I moved and it pulled the trigger, wrapped up my nuts around that drill bit and just ripped ’em to ******* shreds, man. Just ripped ’em to shreds. But luckily, my testicles did not get ripped off.”

The power drill did some serious damage to his scrotum, but it missed his testicles. Mitchell said that, if his testicles got caught, then he would’ve likely bled to death before he could get help. Mitchell proceeded to drive himself to the hospital, where he was successfully treated for his injury.

With that being said, his suffering didn’t end there. Since he lived in a small town, he knew a lot of people in that hospital, and some of them were even related to him. He joked that this was the worst part of the whole ordeal, but fortunately, it was a short ordeal. Mitchell recovered quickly and he was back in the gym a few weeks later.

After a few months of rest and recovery, Mitchell returned in March 2019, and he won his fight again. A few months later, he won another fight, this time by pulling off a very rare submission. Mitchell didn’t slow down, and he won two more fights in 2020.

With those wins, Mitchell is now 14-0, and he currently has a 5-0 record in the UFC, which is a remarkable feat considering how young he is. Mitchell is currently 26, and given how tough and dangerous he is, he may be fighting for the title in the near future.

That said, unfortunately, he was recently injured again. Fortunately, his testicles were not involved this time, and it was a more common injury. According to MMA Junkie, he broke his left hand after beating Andre Fili in October 2020. When he recovers though, he will likely continue being a force to be reckoned with.
