Buccaneers HC Bruce Arians Reveals Insight on Tom Brady’s Conflicting Retirement Reports

Did Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady decide to retire from NFL? For a brief moment, it appeared that the legendary signal-caller finally hung up his cleats for good at the age of 44.

However, various reports came out after the fact, including Brady Sr., suggesting that Brady hasn’t decided yet on his future. Now, the Tampa Bay head coach is jumping in and doubling down on those comments — showing that the seven-time Super Bowl champion hasn’t decided anything.

Conflicting reports surface regarding the retirement of Tom Brady

On Saturday, reports came out that Brady was retiring from the NFL after 22 seasons. Shortly after, conflicting reports started to circulate — and his dad and others were quick to shut down those talks.

Then, Brady’s agent, Don Yee, sent a text message that neither confirmed nor denied his intentions to retire — although the consensus is that he isn’t announcing his retirement just yet.

That changed everything, and nobody knows if #12 is hanging it up for good or not.

If that weren’t enough, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network mentioned that sources close to Brady are expecting the QB to retire — and it’s not a matter of if but when.

On the day before the Conference Championship Games, Brady became the focus by no fault of his own. Is he ending his career?

At this point, nobody knows. However, Arians was extremely adamant that Brady hadn’t made a decision.

Buccaneers HC Bruce Arians has some insight on Brady’s pending decision

If Brady were retiring, wouldn’t he announce it to the Buccaneers? Well, not even Arians knew that Brady was retiring, and he quickly shot down the rumors after the announcement circulated.

If that weren’t enough, Buccaneers GM Jason Licht got a call from Brady, and the man himself said he hadn’t decided anything just yet.

Brady retired, then he didn’t, and then the Buccaneers came out and confirmed it. What a bizarre turn of events.

Other sources confirmed the reports from the Buccaneers organization, which just makes things even more puzzling.

This entire situation seems odd. As tactical as Brady is on the field, he is arguably even more methodical off of it. If he will retire, it probably comes with some spectacle and a well-executed announcement — not a report from Adam Schefter and Jeff Darlington. However, they were spot-on about Brady joining Tampa Bay back in 2020.

Still, something seems off this time around — especially with his dad and the Buccaneers deflecting these reports.

The entire NFL world waits for the official announcement

Arians didn’t know. The Buccaneers GM had no idea, and Brady’s father shot down the reports.

Nobody has any idea whether or not Brady is actually retiring. Earlier this week, all signs pointed to him ending his career after his latest comments regarding his family and how that would be a deciding factor.

Now what?

Reactions immediately came pouring out after the first reports dropped, and the NFL, Tampa Bay, and other QBs around the league are anxiously awaiting the official decision by Brady.

This decision has a massive impact on everybody. If this is true, the Buccaneers will be in scramble mode to find another quarterback. Moreover, Arians might seriously contemplate retiring himself, despite making his intentions to return for 2022 perfectly clear.

There will likely be a domino effect, although nobody knows what will happen. Perhaps Brady is leaning toward retirement. Maybe he did already make up his mind. But Arians did say Brady was “not even close” to making a decision.

Nonetheless, the NFL sits back and waits again for Brady’s announcement — this time from the man himself, hopefully.
