Cam Newton Makes a Powerful Promise To the Patriots

Star quarterback Cam Newton continues to settle into his new surroundings with the New England Patriots. It has guided him to secure the starting job ahead of his first campaign with the franchise. All that has led to Newton make a strong declaration before the 2020 season.

Cam Newton secures Patriots starting QB job

Since Cam Newton arrived to the Patriots, he has been pinned as the frontrunner for the starting job in the 2020 season.

Newton has continued to make progress in understanding the team’s complex playbook while building chemistry with his new teammates. With that in tow, head coach Bill Belichick rolled forward last week with naming the 31-year-old as the starter for the upcoming campaign.

It has been an impressive push for Newton as he moves to re-establish himself as one of the league’s top quarterbacks. He’s coming off back-to-back campaigns that were cut short due to injury. His opportunity with New England is his chance to prove that he can be the guiding force to push a franchise toward competing for a Super Bowl.

Cam Newton makes a firm promise to the Patriots

Over the first couple of months in Cam Newton’s tenure with the Patriots, plenty of praise has spewed out from both sides.

It has reached another level after Newton earned the starting job ahead of his first campaign in New England. The three-time Pro Bowler has voiced that he isn’t taking the opportunity with the franchise for granted, according to Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal.

“Man, listen, words can’t even explain my feelings when I heard,” Newton said of being named a captain. “Ever since I first spoke to any personnel with the team, I wanted to make sure they understood my drive and understand I’m not taking this opportunity for granted. Whether it’s showing up as early as I do show up or leave as late as I leave, I know people know that my heart is in the right place.”

Newton continued: “As far as it comes to this team, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do but put their best interests at heart, and to be named captain was something that was just rewarding to hear. But at the same time, now the real work kind of starts for me knowing I have to prove it each and every day and I know I have people that’s looking to me.”

There is a clear understanding that this may be his last chance to prove himself in the NFL. Newton has gone through a challenging path over the last couple of years due to injuries. It’s a situation that the Patriots have put their faith in him with the belief he provides them the best chance to win. It’s on his shoulders to prove that on the field.

Bill Belichick Just Gave Cam Newton the Ultimate Vote of Confidence

The Patriots are entering the 2020 season after an offseason of significant change.

Despite that, New England has the label as the favorites to win the AFC East, with the Buffalo Bills viewed as the top challengers. The bulk of their success will hinge on how Cam Newton performs, especially after several players opted out of the season. It all shapes up to be an opportunity for Newton to secure his future beyond the upcoming campaign.

If the Patriots can stay among top teams in the AFC, it should see them compete with the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, Tennessee Titans, and Houston Texans. It’s too early to know how things will transpire, but Newton gives them a chance to put forth a special season.
