Charles Barkley Sets Paul George Straight Regarding George’s Playoff Struggles

If anyone knows one thing about Charles Barkley, he’s not afraid to speak his mind. Barkley had a few words for Paul George after George gave himself the nickname ‘Playoff P.’

Barkley wasn’t too fond of that nickname that George gave himself and he made that known on national television.

Paul George has become one of the top players in the league. There has been a lot of improvement in his game from the time he was a rookie up until now. George has made the NBA playoffs all but one time in his career. That one time was in 2015 when he missed most of the season due to injury.

George has played for three teams during his career. He started his career with the Indiana Pacers and he helped turn the Pacers into one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference during his time there. The Pacers advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2013 and 2014 and lost to the Miami Heat on both occasions. That’s the farthest George has gone in the playoffs.

In the Western Conference, George has not been able to get out of the first round. During the 2018 and 2019 playoffs, George was a part of the Oklahoma City Thunder team that got bounced in the first round. He’s played in the playoffs a total of nine times during his career. Now that he’s on the LA Clippers, he has a good chance of making it out of the first round in the Western Conference.

Paul George’s record in the playoffs is not the best

For George to call himself ‘Playoff P,’ his record indicates that he has not had much success. Through 79 playoff games, George has a record of 36-43. Though he’s made it to the playoffs each year except one, he has struggled for the most part.  In recent playoff performances, George has put up good numbers for the teams that he played for.

The most points that George put up during the playoffs was 39 and he did it on two occasions with the Pacers. In his recent playoff performance with the Thunder, George put together an impressive performance. George scored 32 and 36 points in the final two games of the Western Conference Finals with the Thunder. Now that George is with the Clippers, They are one of the favorites in the Western Conference. George has been struggling in recent games during the 2020 NBA Playoffs.

Charles Barkley had enough of hearing George’s nickname for himself. Though George has had a lot of playoff experience during his career, he has not performed well during clutch performances. According to an article from cbssports.com, George shot 7-for-33 from the field during games two and three of the first round against the Dallas Mavericks. His performance during those two games had people question if the Clippers can go far in the playoffs.

Charles Barkley had something to say to Paul George about his nickname ‘Playoff P.’ “You can’t be calling yourself ‘Playoff P’ and lose all the time,” Barkley said. “You don’t see me walking around saying ‘I won the championship’ because I didn’t win it. They don’t call me Championship Chuck.” Barkley is never afraid to speak his mind and he had to let George know that he wasn’t living up to his nickname.
