Throughout nearly the last two decades, Cristiano Ronaldo has become one of the most prominent international athletes. Ronaldo continues to experience much success in the latter portion of his illustrious career despite many labeling that he’s out of his physical prime. That hasn’t stopped him from putting forth some historic performance well into his 30s. With that said, Ronaldo has racked up another incredible feat that nobody has achieved before.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s continued success
Cristiano Ronaldo has remained on the mountaintop as one of the best players in the world.
His move to Juventus hasn’t seen him slow down one iota as he maintains his almost in-human status behind his stellar play in this third act of professional career. He continues to add more impressive feats to his resume throughout the process that suggests he’s far from done with his prime.
Ronaldo has once again put his mark in the record books with another ridiculous feat.
Cristiano Ronaldo sets another impressive record
Since making the transition over to Juventus, Cristiano Ronaldo continues to remain a significant factor.
The 35-year-old has garnered another impressive record as he scored a pair of goals in the 2-1 win over Lazio on Monday. The two goals push Ronaldo past the 50-goal mark, making him the first player to surpass that feat in each the Premier League, La Liga, and Serie A. (H/T Diaro AS en)
“Records are always important, but the important thing is that the team wins,” Ronaldo told Sky Sport Italia after the game. “We are a phenomenal team and we showed that again today, although we always want to improve and raise the bar. These things are nice, but the Capocannoniere title is a natural process that comes as a consequence of scoring to win games for the team.”
Although he slightly brushed that aside with his attention on the team-first aspect, it’s a feat that deserves plenty of recognition. Ronaldo accomplished in the three best leagues in the world. He has tallied up 51 goals in his two years with Juventus, 84 with Manchester United, and 311 during his tenure with Real Madrid.
The two goals also put him at 30 goals for the season, making him the third player in the past 60 years to accomplish that feat. Ronaldo is also the fastest player to reach 50 Serie A Goals in the last 25 years by taking only 61 games to reach that mark. Beyond that, Monday’s win pushes Juventus to eight points ahead of the pack in the league, capturing a record-extending ninth straight title inevitable.
His Greatness continues
Cristiano Ronaldo adds to his illustrious resume that builds further toward his argument in the GOAT conversation.
It’s been a discussion that has been beaten to death, but Ronaldo remains a highly productive player at the later stage of his career. He continues to show reason to believe he’s extending his prime with his innate ability to adapt his game with age.
Juventus’s move hasn’t seen any drop off in his game as he continues to dazzle with his play. He has the individual awards and club accolades at each stop in his career highlighted by five Ballon d’Or awards, and a FIFA World Cup Golden Ball honors. Although winning the World Cup has escaped him on his resume, he has done it all.
Lionel Messi remains his greatest rival for that prestigious GOAT title, but accomplishment such as this only adds to his case for that mantel.
