Dana White Trying to Convince Tom Brady to Join the Raiders

Throughout much of the last couple of months, the underlying focus around the NFL has been on star quarterback Tom Brady‘s upcoming free agency. It’s anticipated that Brady will test the open market to explore his options, which one of those potential landing spots will be the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders’ interest in the future Hall of Famer has continued to linger since over the past several weeks. With that in mind, UFC president Dana White has jumped into the conversation as he made a personal pitch to Brady about joining the Raiders this offseason.

Raiders’ interest in Tom Brady

Since Brady it clear at his postgame interview in the New England Patriots‘ playoff loss to the Tennessee Titans that he will explore his options, the Raiders have been in the picture as a potential destination.

The Raiders have plenty of incentive to make a move to land the 42-year-old as the 2020 season will see them play their first season in Las Vegas. Brady’s addition would be a massive benefit towards bringing excitement to the team while providing them with a Super Bowl-caliber quarterback that can push the team forward towards contention.

The chatter around a potential move to the Raiders for Brady began in January after he was spotted talking to team owner Mark Davis for 20 minutes at a UFC event. Since then, the dialogue has been nonstop despite them already having former Pro Bowl quarterback Derek Carr under contract through the 2022 season.

With all that in mind, the Raiders got help with their pitch to Brady from a unique source.

Dana White pitches the Raiders to Tom Brady

Since the last several weeks, White has been quite vocal about Brady giving the Raiders a shot with the next chapter of his career.

The UFC president made that pitch directly to Brady public on Instagram live via a phone call, which he presented what Las Vegas has to offer.

White: “The Stadium and facility is incredible. The training facility that they have outside of Vegas is unbelievable. It’s a 45-minute flight from LA. Your kids and your family could live there. You could fly back and forth. We want you to come to the Raiders. I have been pitching you now for a month.”

Brady: “It’s been a lot of patience for me. Obviously being where I have been for 20 years has been an amazing experience. I don’t know what the future holds. Right now, I’m just trying to be patient through the process. In the meantime, I am going to spend a lot of time with my family over the next 10-12 days.”

White has personal ties to the city as the UFC has held many events there, and he lives in the area with his family. The phone call also displayed the strong bond that he has with Brady, where he also indicated that he spoke to him about the Raiders more than once.

It just adds another dynamic to the entire situation, which the Raiders appear to be in the picture to make a run at landing the star quarterback.

Could the Raiders land Tom Brady?

The Raiders are in the picture alongside several other teams such as the Los Angeles Chargers, Indianapolis Colts, and Tennessee Titans.

Each of these teams has the financial flexibility to offer Brady what he’s looking for on his next deal. The separation factor will be where he feels he has the best chance to win a Super Bowl.

The Raiders are still a bit of the way from reaching that despite having some promising pieces to the puzzle. They took some critical steps forwards last year, but the franchise still has some notable areas of improvement. It should also be noted that Brady would be in the same division as the Kansas City Chiefs and have to play Patrick Mahomes twice a year.

That doesn’t take the Raiders out of the picture, but it certainly doesn’t help their case. The possibility is there, but it’s hard to bank on that coming to fruition.
