DeAndre Hopkins Just Revealed Where He Thinks J.J. Watt Should Play Next Season

The Houston Texans released J.J. Watt last week, ending the Watt era in Houston. The future Hall of Famer is now a free agent and free to sign with any team of his choice.

Arizona Cardinals wideout DeAndre Hopkins, who played with J.J. Watt in Houston, knows exactly where the three-time Defensive Player of the Year should play in 2021.

It looks like J.J. Watt is enjoying free agency. The superstar defender took to social media to express how “wild” free agency has been thus far.

Several contenders are interested in signing Watt, one of the best defensive ends in NFL history. A recent report stated that the five-time Pro Bowler could sign with the Cleveland Browns, who already have a solid defense with Myles Garrett leading the way.

Since entering the NFL in 2011 as the 11th overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft out of Wisconsin, Watt leads the league in quarterback hits, multi-sack games, sack yards, and tackles for loss. He is the fourth-fastest player in NFL history to record 100.0 career sacks and one of three players to win at least three Defensive Player of the Year Awards.

Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and J.J. Watt were teammates for seven seasons on the Texans before Bill O’Brien traded the stud WR to Arizona in March of 2020. Now that his pal is a free agent, Hopkins wants to “finish” what he and Watt started in Houston.

DeAndre Hopkins wants J.J. Watt to sign with the Cardinals. Arizona went 8-8 in 2020 and missed the playoffs after losing to the LA Rams in Week 17.

However, the team has a bright future with Hopkins and former No. 1 overall pick Kyler Murray in the fold.

In his first season with the Cardinals, Hopkins recorded 115 receptions for 1,407 yards and six touchdowns. Arizona had the 13th ranked offense in the NFL, as the team averaged 25.6 points per game.

While the Cardinals had a top-15 defense in 2020, they can use another elite pass rusher next to Chandler Jones, who only played in five games last season due to an injury.

It will be fascinating to see if J.J. Watt listens to DeAndre Hopkins and signs with the Cardinals. Both players are close friends and searching for that elusive first Super Bowl.

Pittsburgh Steelers wideout Juju Smith-Schuster commented on DeAndre Hopkins’ Instagram post. He used five laughing face emojis and wrote, “come play with your brothers lol.”

J.J. Watt’s two younger brothers, T.J. and Derek, are on the Steelers.

Texans fans are waiting to see where Watt will sign and if franchise cornerstone Deshaun Watson will get traded. The QB has reportedly requested a trade. It has been a tough couple of weeks in Houston.

As for the rest of the NFL, people in league circles are anxious to see what kind of contract J.J. Watt will receive from his new team. The 31-year-old is no longer a superstar, but he can still be a disruptive force.
