New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter and wife Hannah welcomed first child, Bella Raine Jeter, into the world Aug. 17. The news of the baby’s birth was announced by Jeter’s “The Players’ Tribune” website via social media.

Congratulations Derek and @hannahbjeter on the birth of your baby girl, Bella Raine Jeter, born Thursday, Aug. 17.

The Yankees shared their congratulations in a tweet which read, “Congrats to Derek & Hannah Jeter on the birth of their daughter, Bella Raine Jeter. We can’t wait to meet her!”

When pregnant, Hannah Jeter had reflected on “The Players’ Tribune” on the coming baby. “Now, pregnant with our first child, Derek and I are looking to the future,” she wrote. “He already has a name in mind—he’s set on it. (We’ll see.) He’ll say when he calls me during the day: ‘So, how are you and so-and-so doing?’ ‘That’s not the name yet, sweetie.’ Whatever her name is, I know she’ll run circles around him.” The couple had first announced on the website that they were expecting back in February.

In addition to the new parent role, the all-time great shortstop is getting set to take over the Miami Marlins in a major ownership role after winning a bid to purchase the team from Jeffrey Loria. Loria agreed to sell the franchise for $1.2 billion to a group that includes Jeter, reported NJ.com. Jeter will be in charge of the business and baseball operations for the team.

As a baseball player, Jeter was a 14-time All-Star shortstop who helped the Yankees to five World Series titles. He retired from baseball in 2014.

Hannah Jeter is a model best known for her appearances in the “Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue,” including the cover of the 2015 edition. In addition, she has modeled for Ralph Lauren,  Blue Label, Victoria’s Secret. She has also been the host of “Project Runway: Junior” since 2015.

Derek, 43, and Hannah, 27, were married in July 2016, less than two years after the former shortstop retired from baseball.
