As of now, things look bright for the Western Conference champs.
An injury to Chris Paul almost cost the Suns
The Suns started the playoffs against the team most of the West wanted to avoid, and that’s the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers, who had been hit by injuries, limped into the playoffs and, for the first few games, gave the Suns a run for their money.
During that time, point guard Chris Paul was injured, and many NBA analysts thought that without Paul, the Suns didn’t have a chance against the Lakers-they were wrong.
Shooting guard Devin Booker buried the Lakers and ended the defending champ’s title defense in the first round.
Now that Paul seems to be healthy and Booker is still on fire, the Suns need to hope that no major injuries can stop their momentum.
The Kardashian/Jenner curse
The Kardashian/Jenner women do seem to have a thing for basketball players. Khloe Kardashian was married to former Laker Lamar Odom for four years and dated Boston Celtics player Tristan Thompson on and off for years. They also have a child together.
Kim Kardashian West married former NBA player Kris Humphries, a marriage which, by her own admission, was a mistake. That marriage lasted for 72 days before the pair divorced. Now younger sister Kendall is dating Booker. The pair have been dating for a year according to People Magazine.
In the past, the Kardashian women have been accused of cursing the men they have been with and bringing them bad luck, according to Page Six.
Booker’s play makes him a legit star
Booker and the Suns don’t seem to be worried about any injuries or curses. All they need do is to continue to play well together as a team.
The emergence of Booker as a legitimate offensive threat for the Suns has opened a lot of people’s eyes.
His coming-out party for the Suns has been the main reason they have been able to get to the Finals without having to rely on Paul.
Now they know if Paul is ever injured again, Booker has no problem sliding into a leadership role and taking over a game.
Sounds like another former NBA star: Kobe Bryant. Some people doubted how good Kobe was without Shaq, according to Business Insider, including Shaq, who was traded to the Miami Heat in 2004.
But once the Lakers became Kobe’s team, his talent and leadership shined through, and he won two more championships and cemented his legacy as one of the greatest of all time.
Booker is hoping to do the same as his late friend and mentor. If he and his team continue playing at a high level, a ring will soon be in his future.
