DK Metcalf Must Tune Out Jalen Ramsey’s Relentless Trash Talk For The Seahawks to Take Control of the NFL’s Hottest Rivalry

The NFC West is the best division in football. The Los Angeles Rams appeared to be the favorites to win the division crown, but Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals had other plans. Now 3-1, LA will look to rebound against the Seattle Seahawks. All eyes will be on Jalen Ramsey and DK Metcalf, which is one of the most entertaining one-on-one matchups in the NFL.

The rivalry between these two teams heated up after the 2020 season, and fans can expect sparks to fly on Thursday Night Football.

Jalen Ramsey is one of the NFL’s best trash talkers

Trash-talking is a skill that all athletes wish they had. You can’t learn it. You either have it, or you don’t. Jalen Ramsey certainly has it and knows how to use it to his advantage.

In terms of trash-talking, Ramsey ranks up there with the elite, including Steve Smith Sr. and Deion Sanders. Dating back to his time at Florida State, he has been a big-time playmaker. He’s not afraid to let you know, either.

Ramsey is in his sixth NFL season, and he’s already earned four Pro Bowl selections. He’s arguably the best cornerback in the league. His job is to take the opposing team’s best receiver out of the game.

The Smyrna, Tennessee native willingly accepts the challenge. Not only does he use his elite physical tools to give wideouts fits, but he also talks to them non-stop throughout the game. Ramsey loves to get in his opponents’ heads.

“Talking s*** gives me a little more motivation,” said Ramsey in an interview with VICE Sports. “I know I gotta be on my A-game.”

Every time he plays the Seahawks, the Rams star corner knows he has to bring his best.

DK Metcalf vs. Jalen Ramsey is the matchup to watch

The Seahawks offense, led by Russell Wilson, is one of the NFL’s most explosive when firing on all cylinders. Wilson has a very good wide receiver tandem at his disposal in Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf. The latter will be matched up with Jalen Ramsey throughout their Week 5 matchup with the Rams.

Metcalf has matched up with Ramsey three times since Seattle drafted him in 2019. The former second-rounder is an athletic freak who has proven that he’s a competent big-play threat. His opportunities have been limited against LA’s top cover man, though.

Metcalf has recorded 14 receptions for 165 yards and zero touchdowns in the three games against the Rams since Ramsey joined the team.

In the Week 10 matchup during the 2020 season, Ramsey eliminated the Ole Miss product from the equation. He held Metcalf to just two catches for 28 yards on four targets.

DK Metcalf must be a factor in this game for the Seahawks to beat the Rams. The third-year receiver is focusing on not taking the bait this time around.

“I’m an emotional person. I play with a competitive edge, and I’m not trying to lose anything whether that’s an argument or a route, anything,” he told ESPN. “I’m just going to compete my butt off. Get close to the line but don’t cross it.”

The Seahawks and Rams have developed an intense rivalry

The rivalry between the Seahawks and the Rams has been brewing for the past couple of seasons.

The teams traded blows in the second half of the 2020 season. Seattle’s 20-9 victory over LA secured a 12-4 record and the NFC West crown.

Defensive backs Jamal Adams and D.J. Reed celebrated on the sideline at the end of the game. “I need my hat and shirt,” said Reed, per The Athletic. Adams later lit a cigar in the post-game news conference.

The Rams ultimately enjoyed the last laugh after defeating the Seahawks in the Wild Card round of the NFC playoffs. Jalen Ramsey clapped back. “They can take their hats and T-shirts to Cabo,” he said. “Keep the cigars, too. They can keep their little hat and T-shirt. They can go to Cabo for the rest of the offseason.”

Robert Woods chimed in as well, posting an Instagram photo with a caption that read, “Sent them boys to Cancun.”

After the Rams lost to the Packers in the divisional round, Adams mentioned the Rams’ Twitter page saying, “See y’all in Cabo. Make sure y’all bring your own damn cigars too!”

The next chapter of the rivalry is sure to be just as, if not more entertaining than the others. DK Metcalf vs. Jalen Ramsey will be the main event.
