Do You Know Your Favorite Athlete’s Middle Name?

We readily admit to being fascinated by middle names. Some may be famous, some not nearly as well-known. While quite a few star athletes go by their middle names (we assume that you’re much more familiar with “Dale” Earnhardt Jr. than the full name of “Ralph Dale Earnhardt Jr.,” for instance), many of our favorite sports personalities have lived in our minds and imaginations by only first and last name. So, it can be somewhat of a surprise when you finally discover — or perhaps, remember — the name that you’ve never associated with that superstar before.

Do you think you know your favorite athlete’s middle name? We assembled a list of 10 well-known sports figures (outside of baseball, basketball, and football, which we’ve examined already), and have included them below across from a set of 10 out-of-order middle names that belong to the men in question. See how many you can correctly match up, then advance to the next page once you’ve finished and check your work. (No search engines allowed! What’s the point of cheating on the quiz, anyway?!)

Drumroll, please! And the correct answers are as follows:

1-g, 2-c, 3-i, 4-a, 5-d, 6-f, 7-b, 8-e, 9-h, 10-j

Or, to put them in order by birthdate from oldest to youngest, you can read the names this way:

Anthony Frank Hawk, May 12, 1968

Philip Alfred Mickelson, June 16, 1970

Eldrick (“Tiger”) Tont Woods, December 30, 1975

Floyd Joy Mayweather Jr., February 24, 1977

Roger Federer, August 8, 1981

Landon Timothy Donovan, March 4, 1982

Clinton Drew Dempsey, March 9, 1983

Michael Fred Phelps II, June 30, 1985

Shaun Roger White, September 3, 1986

Sidney Patrick Crosby, August 7, 1987

Now you know. So what’s the verdict? Did you pass or fail the quiz?
