Don’t Sleep on UFC 244

Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal will be fighting to see who is the true BMF of the UFC at UFC 244, but that isn’t the only good fight of the night. Loaded with great fights, the whole card will be worth a watch. Here’s a quick rundown of UFC 244.

The entire main card

With no real belt on the line, the UFC made the entire main card of UFC 244 the most stacked card in a long time. Every single fight on this main card is probably going to be a great fight.

The first fight on the main card will feature Johnny Walker. He’ll get his next big test against Corey Anderson, who’s a great wrestler. Walker’s been on an amazing run so far and if he beats Anderson, then he can expect to fight for the title next.

After that is Derrick Lewis and Blagoy Ivanov. They’re both heavyweights so expect to see a knockout. Lewis is also a funny guy, so be sure to watch his interview if he wins.

Next up is a fight between Stephen Thompson and Vicente Luque. Luque is a rising star who’s knocked out or choked-out the vast majority of his opponents. Thompson is a veteran kickboxer who’s knocked out many men in his long career. This will not only be a great fight between two heavy-hitters, but it’ll also be Luque’s test to see if he’s ready for a title shot.

The co-main event of the night will be between Kelvin Gastelum and Darren Till. Both men fought at a lighter weight class before moving up to middleweight, and now the two knockout artists will see who can hurt the other one the most.

And of course, the main event of the evening will be between Diaz and Masvidal. This great fight needs little introduction as the two men will want to punch each other for 25 minutes straight if possible. The winner will get the inaugural BMF belt as well as all the bragging rights that the UFC has to offer.

While the main event will be great, the prelims will also be a good warmup. Kevin Lee will be fighting Gregor Gillespie and this could be one of the best fights of the night. Both men are talented wrestlers so fans can expect to see some high-level wrestling in this fight.

Another great fight is between Katlyn Chookagian and Jennifer Maia. They’re both in the women’s flyweight division, the newest division in the UFC, and they’re both highly ranked. The winner of this contest will likely get a title shot against the current champion, Valentina Shevchenko.

The other notable fight in the prelims will be between former heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski and newcomer Jairzinho Rozenstruik. Rozenstruik has been knocking out everyone in his way, and Arlovski will be Rozenstruik’s first big test. If Rozenstruik wins, then expect to see him challenging for the title in the near future.

The UFC 244 early prelims

These are the first fights of the night, and they’re usually not great. However, UFC 244 has a couple of good fights to watch even here. Edmen Shahbazyan is a currently undefeated fighter and he’s been impressive so far. He’ll be facing Brad Tavares, who’s a tough and experienced fighter. If Shahbazyan can get past Tavares, then he become the next big fighter in the middleweight division.

The other good fight on the early prelims is between Makwan Amirkhani and Shane Burgos. Like Masvidal’s record-breaking 5-second flying knee knockout, Amirkhani actually has a similarly fast flying knee knockout. Amirkhani made his UFC debut against Andy Ogle in 2015 and Amirkhani knocked Ogle out in just 8 seconds with a flying knee.

This is one of the fastest knockouts in UFC history but unfortunately, Amirkhani hasn’t been able to find much success after that win. Burgos, on the other hand, is a rising star in the featherweight division and he only has one loss on his record. With a win against Amrikhani, Burgos hopes to get closer to a title shot.
