It has been a steady rise to the top for Christian McCaffrey over his first few NFL seasons. The Carolina Panthers star running back has become the face of the franchise, while earning recognition as an elite talent. That has put him on the map as one of the highest-rated players in EA Sports’ Madden over the last couple of years. It has once again seen him earn another 99 overall rating to which San Francisco 49ers star tight end George Kittle had a hilarious reason why it should be higher.
Christian McCaffrey’s NFL career
When Christian McCaffrey entered the NFL, there were plenty of questions about his ability to adapt to playing at the next level.
The 24-year-old quickly quieted those concerns as he has become arguably the best all-around running back. His production demonstrates a strong case for that mantel, especially after his career-best campaign in 2019 that earned some substantial MVP consideration.
McCaffrey proved it on the field as he finished last season ranked third with 1,387 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns along with being second with 116 receptions for 1,005 receiving yards and four touchdowns. That also saw him break the single-season record for a running back with 116 catches, which shattered the previous mark he set the season before (107).
McCaffrey also became the first running back to post multiple 100-reception seasons, while his 2,392 total scrimmage yards are the most in Panthers history. That career-best campaign earned him his first Pro Bowl selection and First-Team All-Pro nod. All that earned him the chance to become the highest-paid running back annually behind his four-year, $64 million extension. With all that in mind, George Kittle took the opportunity to make a comical case of why he should have a perfect overall rating in Madden 21.
George Kittle’s reasoning for Christian McCaffrey’s Madden rating
With Christian McCaffrey’s continued rise to being recognized as one of the league’s top running back, it has earned tremendous respect from his peers.
That has also earned him high honors in EA Sports’ Madden the last couple of years, which has seen him crack the 99 overall rating club. McCaffrey unsurprisingly earned that honor yet again for Madden 21, which saw 49ers tight end George Kittle give his hilarious take on why the Panther’s star running back should get a higher rating.
“Dude should be 100 based on his bicep size alone.”
In terms of his physic, McCaffrey has earned a strong reputation behind his muscular build that only speaks to his dedication to his craft. In the last couple of years, there has been a great deal of buzz regarding his biceps’ size that only further ramped up the hype around him.
All the joking aside, McCaffrey’s 99 overall rating in Madden 21 is well warranted behind his impressive work to becoming arguably the best running back in the game.
Christian McCaffrey’s race to earn MVP award
Christian McCaffrey has firmly established himself as one of the game’s best running backs and a legitimate MVP candidate yearly moving forward.
It’s an uphill battle to garner serious consideration for that honor, given that it’s one typically won by quarterbacks. McCaffrey has the talent and ability to put up historical production to make a run at the MVP award. However, what has become quite clear is that the Panthers will need to find substantial success next season to have a realistic chance.
That was the case last season as both Lamar Jackson and Russell Wilson finished higher in the voting for the accolade, with the former taking home the honor. If nothing else, McCaffrey can only add to his resume as one of the game’s best players.
