Here’s What Conor McGregor Had to Say About the BMF Belt
UFC legend Conor McGregor hasn’t been fighting lately. While he used to be the biggest name in the UFC, his rivals, such as Khabib Nurmagomedov and Nate Diaz, have taken over the UFC. Currently, Diaz is about to fight Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244 for the inaugural BMF belt. McGregor’s not just sitting idly by though, he has some thoughts about the BMF belt.

According to the UFC, the BMF belt is a specially designed belt for a single fight, the fight between Diaz and Masvidal. Both men have called themselves the “real BMF of the UFC,” and this fight will try to determine who’s the realest BMF in the UFC.
Both men are pretty similar in terms of their background and fighting style. They want to stand up straight and punch each other’s faces off. They’re real mixed-martial artists though, and they won’t be afraid to use their other weapons to win the fight. However, most fans expect that the two will just use their incredible boxing and cardio to see who can survive the full 25-minute fight.
The winner will be awarded the BMF belt, a belt that’s so exciting that even Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson wants to be a part of. Johnson wants to be the guy who puts the BMF belt around the waist of the winner, and he’s not the only UFC fan that’s excited about this fight.
Conor McGregor’s belt?
However, according to Conor McGregor, he’s the one who actually designed the belt. According to MMAJunkie, he gave the UFC his approval for the belt’s design. McGregor even has gone so far as to take credit for the belt even existing. McGregor’s known for saying some outlandish things though, so how truthful his statements are is unknown.
For example, McGregor’s relationship with the UFC’s president, Dana White, hasn’t been too warm lately. In the past, they seemed like the best of friends, but after McGregor’s latest antics, as well as due to the rise of other stars, White recently said that McGregor wasn’t “the man” anymore. Of course, the problem is, White is also known for being a little untruthful to the public, so it’s also unknown how truthful his statements are.
That said, one thing that McGregor said is probably true. McGregor claims to be the original BMF. Of course, that’s a matter of opinion, but McGregor was the first man to become a champion in two weight classes at the same time. It takes a real BMF to go up a weight class and not only challenge the champion, but also knock him out.
Conor McGregor’s next fight
After that, McGregor said that he’s obviously interested in fighting the winner of Diaz vs. Masvidal. Either fight will be compelling fights. If McGregor fights Diaz next, then this will be their third fight together. It will be the deciding fight in their trilogy, as Diaz won the first fight and McGregor won the second.
If Masvidal wins, then this will also be a great fight. Masvidal talked trash about McGregor earlier this year, and it really angered McGregor. Masvidal said that he was too much of a man for McGregor, implying that McGregor was too small for Masvidal. Furthermore, Masvidal made a name for himself by getting the fastest knockout in the UFC ever at 5 seconds.
McGregor was knocking guys out in his entire career, but McGregor also famously won the featherweight title by knocking out Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds. This was the fastest knockout in a title fight in UFC history. These two men, who are both known for their impressive knockout power, will probably put on a great display of skill and striking if they ever fought.
