Is Buffalo Bills RB Devin Singletary Related to Bears Legend Mike Singletary?

If the Buffalo Bills intend to win a Super Bowl, they’ll need second-year running back Devin Singletary at his best in the postseason.

A third-round pick last year, Singletary has turned into a reliable lead back. Although Singletary hasn’t lit up the scoreboard the way he did in college, he appears to have found a home with the Buffalo Bills.

Because of his last name, Singletary has always been linked to legendary Chicago Bears linebacker Mike Singletary. Let’s look at if the two are actually related to one another.

A shifty running back who starred at Florida Atlantic, Devin Singletary has been very productive in his first two seasons.

Through Week 16 of the 2020 season, Singletary ran for 1,455 yards and four touchdowns on 4.8 yards per carry in 27 games and 23 starts. Despite entering the NFL with questions about his ability as a receiver, Singletary has hauled in 66 catches for 457 yards and two touchdowns.

Singletary has also improved on his ball security in 2020. After fumbling four times as a rookie, Singletary only fumbled once in his first 15 games this season.

Josh Allen’s evolution over the last two years into a dangerous dual-threat quarterback has hurt Singletary’s scoring chances. Singletary, who ran for 66 touchdowns in three years at FAU, only has six all-purpose touchdowns in two seasons.

Singletary currently splits with rookie Zack Moss. Although Singletary has outgained Moss by a 680-473 margin, “Motor” is averaging 4.4 yards per rush, narrowly ahead of the 4.3 YPC that Moss has posted in 12 games.
