While it’s not a contest, it does seem like Jake Paul is becoming more loudmouthed than his brother is. After knocking out former NBA star Nate Robinson, Paul has set his eyes on former UFC star, Ben Askren. And now, Jake Paul’s antics have even attracted the attention of the UFC’s president, Dana White, and the two are now thinking about betting against each other.
Jake Paul’s surprisingly successful combat sports career
For a while, Jake Paul was just the little brother of Logan Paul, who was more famous and more controversial. However, when both Paul brothers started getting into amateur boxing fights against other YouTube celebrities, Jake actually came out ahead. Logan has lost both of his celebrity boxing fights, while Jake has won all three of his, and all by knockout, too.
First, he knocked out KSI’s little brother. Then, he knocked out another YouTuber named Gib. And of course, he knocked out Robinson during the undercard of Mike Tyson’s comeback fight. And, just like his brother, Paul has been a pretty abrasive and controversial person every step of the way. Not only has he made a lot of profane call-outs, but he’s also said and done plenty of stupid or controversial things, especially in regard to COVID-19.
Regardless, all of his trash talk ultimately gave him the opportunity to fight against Askren in his next boxing bout. Their bout is set to take place on April 17th, but celebrities like Dana White have already taken sides.
What Dana White thinks about this fight
According to Insider, White is clearly putting his bets on Askren. White said, according to Insider, “Let’s be honest, Jake Paul is not a f****** boxer. This guy’s a f****** YouTube kid.”
White, like most UFC fans, are quick to acknowledge Askren’s credentials. Sure, he got knocked out in a record-breaking 5-second fight against Jorge Masvidal, but Askren’s a very decorated fighter.
Before he lost to Masvidal, Askren had an undefeated 19-0 record. He also used to be a champ in Bellator and in ONE Championship. While Askren is not a dedicated boxer, he’s fought with plenty of highly-skilled fighters, and he’s come out on top most of the time.
The same can’t be said for Paul, who is, despite his knockouts, an amateur boxer. Paul hasn’t beaten anyone with any actual boxing experience, let alone, professional combat sports experience.
That’s why, according to Insider, White said, “I hope you can bet on this thing because I’ll f****** bet a million dollars that [Paul] loses this f****** fight.”
How Jake Paul responded to Dana White
Never a man to back down, Paul felt slighted by White’s comments. Paul said, according to Insider, that he wanted to double the bet to $2 million each, for $4 million total. On top of that, Paul even said, “After I knockout Ben, we can set up Jake Paul Vs. Dana White.”
Paul wasn’t the only person who wanted to call White’s bluff. According to TMZ, Snoop Dogg, who is friends with Paul, called White out over social media as well. Like Paul, Snoop Dogg also wants to double the bet to $4 million in total. But, as far as both call-outs go, White has seemingly remained silent on the matter.
However, as many hardcore UFC fans may know, White is a well-known high-stakes gambler, and he’s actually pretty good at it. Whether or not this bet actually happens, UFC fans are almost certain that White was serious when he talked about betting a $1 million on Askren.
On top of that, because White is so rich, he could definitely afford to make a $2 million bet like Paul or Snoop Dogg challenged him to.
