NFL: Jameis Winston, Chris Godwin Lead Buccaneers by Panthers, 20 – 14
Tampa Bay quarterback Jameis Winston struggled in Week 1, but he made up for it in Week 2. Winston passed for 208 yards and a touchdown in a tantalizing 20-14 victory over Carolina on Thursday, Sept. 12, at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
Winston’s 208 yards and zero interceptions included a 20-yard touchdown to Chris Godwin late in the second quarter that gave the Buccaneers a 10-3 lead. Tampa led 10-6 at halftime. Winston posted a 103.40 passer rating for the game.
Thanks to rushing usage index of 50.0 and receiving index of 104.0, compared to overall offensive index of 46.5 for Carolina Panthers, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rode an OVER (Offensive Value and Efficiency Rating) 77.0 to a win.
Three sacks and five QB hits, Tampa Bay produced a DVS (Defensive Value Score) of 1.25, compared to a DVS of 0.25 produced by Carolina Panthers defense.
