Jerry Jones Gets Real Ahead of Massive Cowboys-Chiefs Showdown With Honest Take: ‘It Would Be a Hallmark Win For Us’

The biggest matchup of the weekend is undoubtedly the Dallas Cowboys and the Kansas City Chiefs going head-to-head. Two of the best quarterbacks in the game in Dak Prescott and Patrick Mahomes, and two teams with legitimate Super Bowl aspirations in the 2021 season.

The Chiefs picked it up after a slow start to the year by demolishing the Las Vegas Raiders, and the Cowboys walked all over the Atlanta Falcons in Dan Quinn’s revenge game.

Everybody knows how important this game is for both teams, and Jerry Jones dropped an honest take on the magnitude of this pivotal matchup.

Cowboys-Chiefs has potential to be a high-scoring affair

Does this need to be said?

Mahomes vs. Prescott, two high-powered offenses, and both teams are coming off of 40-point performances in Week 10. Yes, points will be scored all around in this tilt.

The Chiefs‘ struggles were evident to start the season, but the performance against the Raiders hinted at a turn of the corner for the back-to-back AFC champions. Mahomes looked like his old self and sent a warning to the NFL in the process.

The Cowboys, led by MVP candidate Prescott, are running away easily with the NFC East. It isn’t close, either. Moreover, their chances of becoming the No. 1 seed in the NFC continue to grow after the Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost this past weekend.

Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy knows the importance of this game as well.

Two teams will clear paths to the Super Bowl in their respective conferences, and both quarterbacks are playing terrific football. This one is going to be appointment television whether you’re a fan of either team or not.

Now, it certainly doesn’t help that the Cowboys have to travel to Arrowhead Stadium for this one. The Chiefs fans will be roaring — as they always are. Dallas fans will be there also, as they always are.

But, Jones emphasized the importance of this game with a perfect quote (h/t Pete Grathoff of The Kansas City Star).

“If we go up there and could come out of there with a win, it would be a hallmark win for us this year.”

It certainly would be a “hallmark” victory for the Cowboys.

Dallas sits at 7-2 and tied for the best record in the NFC along with the Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals. The two losses for Dallas have come on opening night against the Bucs and then a bizarre showing against the Denver Broncos at the start of November.

To Jones’ point, this would be the Cowboys’ best victory of the season against a team loaded with Super Bowl talent.

Mahomes finally got back to his old ways against the Raiders. He dished out five touchdown passes, including this miracle throw and catch to Darrel Williams.

He was mobile and moved around with ease, and the Chiefs offense was firing on all cylinders.

However, the Cowboys’ defense has been impressive this season, especially a guy named Trevon Diggs. So, the Chiefs have their work cut out for them on Sunday, although having home-field advantage will certainly help.
