NFL Recap: Jimmy Garoppolo Headlines 49ers Rout of Bengals

After an average showing in the first game of the season, Jimmy Garoppolo rebounded to power the 49ers’ 41-17 blowout of the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019 at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati.

Garoppolo completed 17-of-25 passes for 297 yards and three touchdowns, leading to a 131.20 passer rating.

Matt Breida ran for 121 yards, and Jeffrey Wilson had two rushing touchdowns for the 49ers, which powered a rushing game that produced a rushing usage index of 194.25 to the Bengals’ 6.25. San Francisco had a total OVER (Offensive Value and Efficiency Rating) of 253.625 to get the win and improved to 2-0 on the season.

San Francisco was just as solid on the other side of the ball. The 49ers put up a total DVS (Defensive Value Score) index of 1.6, compared to 0.0 for the Bengals. That came from two hits and four sacks in the win.

John Ross and Tyler Eifert each caught Andy Dalton touchdown passes for the Bengals, who slipped to 0-2 on the season.
