After becoming a superstar in college at Kentucky, point guard John Wall has since become a pretty productive player in the NBA for the Washington Wizards and Houston Rockets. He is a five-time NBA All-Star and averages 19 points per game and 9.1 assists for his career. John Wall‘s play on the court has also ultimately helped him earn quite a bit of money and rack up an excellent net worth. This has, in turn, even led to him owning part of a professional basketball team.
John Wall has been a star for the Wizards and Rockets
The Washington Wizards selected John Wall with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft after he had become a star for the Kentucky Wildcats in college. He had quite a bit of success in his first three seasons in the league, too. After averaging a little over 16 points and around eight assists in his first two seasons, Wall’s scoring numbers jumped up to 18.5 in his third season.
In 2013-14, though, Wall officially became one of the best players in the NBA. He ultimately earned his first of five consecutive All-Star selections that year, as he averaged 19.3 points per game, 8.8 assists, and 4.1 rebounds. Wall’s best season during that five-year stretch, though, came in 2016-17. He averaged a career-high 23.1 points per game that year to go with career-highs in assists with 10.7 and steals with two per game. His play even helped him earn All-NBA honors that season, too.
Wall, though, only appeared in 41 games in 2017-18, and then 32 in 2018-19 before missing the entire season due to injury in 2019-20.
The Washington Wizards have since traded John Wall to the Houston Rockets, and he has continued to produce at a high level in Houston.
For his career, through 20 games in the 2020-21 season, Wall is averaging 19 points per game, 9.1 assists, and 4.3 rebounds. His assists-per-game average is also No. 7 in NBA history.
Wall has certainly had a lot of success in the NBA, which has helped him make plenty of money. That money has also ultimately led to him owning part of a professional basketball team.
He owns part of the South East Melbourne Phoenix in the NBL
He is not the only current or former NBA player in the ownership group, either, as Josh Childress, Zach Randolph, Al Harrington, and Dante Exum are all involved in it as well.
“I’m so excited to be coming on board with the Phoenix,” Wall said, according to ESPN. “… I know there is plenty I can contribute to the growth of the franchise and I’m especially looking forward to getting down to South East Melbourne and meeting the team and the fans when travel restrictions are lifted.”
No matter how large Wall’s stake is, it’s probably pretty cool to own part of a professional basketball team. It wouldn’t be possible without all the money he has made on the court, either.
John Wall has racked up a nice net worth
John Wall’s efforts with the Wizards and Rockets have helped him make a significant amount of money in the NBA. According to Spotrac, he has made an estimated $184.8 million in his career through the 2020-21 season.
That money has also helped John Wall rack up a nice net worth, as Celebrity Net Worth estimates that he is worth $60 million.
John Wall has become a one of the best guards in the NBA. Now, his efforts on the court have helped him add team owner to his resume as well.
