Karl Malone’s Daughter Played in the WNBA and Accomplished Something He Never Did

Karl Malone ended his basketball career as one of the best players to play in the NBA. Malone’s numbers throughout his career show why he’s in the Basketball Hall of Fame. He is currently second on the all-time scoring listing in NBA history with 36,928 points.

Basketball runs in Malone’s family. Cheryl Ford, Malone’s daughter, played in the WNBA and did something her father never did, even with all the success he had.

A look at Karl Malone’s career

Malone spent 19 seasons playing in the NBA. He spent the majority of his career playing for the Utah Jazz and spent his final season playing for the Los Angeles Lakers. Malone played on some good teams throughout his career.

Throughout his career, he averaged 25.0 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. He was one of the most dominant players in the game for many seasons. At power forward, Malone could shoot well from the mid-range, and he dominated in the paint. He was a two-time NBA MVP and played in multiple all-star games.

During his time in Utah, he helped lead the Jazz to multiple NBA Finals appearances. The Jazz was one of the best teams in the Western Conference when Malone played there. Malone also made it to the finals in his final season, playing with the Lakers.

Karl Malone’s daughter was a winner

Cheryl Ford had the same success on the court that her father did. She decided to attend the same college as her dad, which was Louisiana Tech University. After a successful four-year career at Louisiana Tech, Ford entered the WNBA draft. She was the third overall pick in the 2003 draft. The Detroit Shock selected Ford, and she made an immediate impact on the team.

Ford helped turn the Shock around in just one season. The team went from being one of the worst teams in the WNBA to one of the best teams. The Shock would go on to win the WNBA championship in her first year, and she also won the Rookie of the Year award. Ford was the first player in the WNBA to win a championship and the Rookie of the Year award.

Like her father, Ford was a dominant player in the paint. She led the league in rebounds twice in her career. Ford was also a four-time all-star, and she won a total of three championships. She played six seasons in the WNBA and would spend time playing overseas after. At the end of the day, Ford was a winner.

Karl Malone’s daughter has something he doesn’t

Even though Malone had a lot of success in the NBA and is one of the best to play the game, he does not have a championship. That’s one area his daughter beat him at. Malone had multiple chances to win a title, but it never worked out for him.

Ford was able to take advantage of her time in the WNBA and win multiple championships. If there’s ever an argument between the two about their careers, Ford can always say she has multiple championships. The father-daughter duo were both very dominant in their respected sport.
