LaMelo Ball Is Paying No Attention to His Father’s Draft Antics

Come November, LaMelo Ball will hear his name called along with many others during the 2020 NBA draft. Ball is projected to be a top pick and is one of the most talented players in the draft.

It’s a mystery where he will end up, but he’ll definitely hear his name called in the first round. He is focusing on his game and not worrying about what other people are saying, even what his father is saying.

LaMelo Ball has developed into a top basketball prospect over the years

LaMelo Ball is no stranger to the spotlight. Ever since he was a freshman in high school, the cameras were always around him and his brothers. His oldest brother, Lonzo Ball, paved the way for him and his other brother LiAngelo. LaMelo is looking to follow in Lonzo’s footsteps and become an NBA player. He last played professionally in Australia for the Illawarra Hawks of the National Basketball League.

LaMelo had a lot of success during his time in Australia. In November of 2019, he recorded a triple-double with 32 points, 13 assists, and 11 rebounds and became the youngest player to record a triple-double. In the next game, he recorded another triple-double with 25 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists and became the fourth player in NBL history to record consecutive triple-doubles. Through 12 games, he averaged 17 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 6.8 assists and was named the NBL Rookie of the Year.

LaMelo has polished his game over the last few years. He has displayed a high basketball IQ, and he knows how to control the game when the ball is in his hands. At 6-foot-7, LaMelo can use his length to shoot over other guards, and he can get to the rim and finish with contact. Once he’s in the league, he will continue to develop into a high-level point guard.

LaMelo Ball predicted to go in the top three

According to nbadraft.net, LaMelo is projected to go No. 2 to the Golden State Warriors. The list was updated on September 16. LaMelo is arguably the best point guard in the draft and has a lot of potential to become a superstar in the league. He has the size and length to compete at the NBA level, and he already has experience playing overseas.

Where he will land is a mystery, but whoever decides to select LaMelo will get a talented player who can make their team better. It’ll be interesting to watch LaMelo and Lonzo go at each other when LaMelo enters the NBA. After the 2020 NBA draft is over, there will be two Ball brothers in the NBA.

Will LaMelo Ball Become a Superstar in the NBA?

When you think of the Ball brothers, it’s hard not to mention their dad, LaVar Ball. LaVar has been in the media in the past for making bold statements regarding his three sons. He once said that all three of his sons would play for the LA Lakers at the same time. Well, that doesn’t look like that will be happening as Lonzo was traded from the Lakers and LiAngelo has yet to make it to the NBA.

In July, LaVar said that he doesn’t think the Warriors would be a good fit for LaMelo because he doesn’t believe he should come off the bench. But LaMelo did not agree with what his father said. According to an ESPN article, LaMelo said that he’s open to playing anywhere. “Well, I’m my own man. He’s his own man. He has his opinions, I have mine,” LaMelo said of his father. “Like I said, I feel I could play on any team and do good anywhere I go, so anything that happens, I’m positive.”

LaMelo is looking forward to hearing his name called in the draft, and he just wants the opportunity to play at the next level. “Anywhere is a great fit,” he said. “I mean, it’s the NBA. You put me with good players, I feel like it’s even gonna be better.” LaMelo will soon get the opportunity to showcase his talents on the highest level of basketball.
