LeBron James Hints the Light at the End of the Lakers’ Injury Tunnel is Near

The last few weeks have been rocky for the LA Lakers without their two star players in the lineup. LA has dealt with both LeBron James and Anthony Davis sidelined with significant injuries. However, James may have dropped the tea leaves on the promising near future ahead.

The Lakers have operated the last several weeks without both their star players on the floor.

LA has been without Anthony Davis since mid-February as he’s working his way back from a calf injury that is linked to Achilles issues. Meanwhile, LeBron James has missed the last few weeks due to a right high ankle sprain.

The Lakers have managed to push forward without their two stars, staying afloat in the stacked Western Conference. LA holds a 5-7 record since James suffered his injury against the Atlanta Hawks on March 20.

The losses have dropped LA from second to fifth in the Western Conference standings. However, the team is coming off a very encouraging win on Saturday night as they blew comfortably past the Brooklyn Nets on the road.

Head coach Frank Vogel deemed it as the team’s “best” win of the year so far. As the Lakers progress through the rest of the regular season, the four-time league MVP may have just recently hinted at some promising news ahead.

With both LeBron James and Anthony Davis out of the lineup, the team has remained quite patient with their respective situations.

As the weeks have passed, there is a growing sense that the two are inching closer to getting back on the floor. The 36-year-old hinted at just that on Friday night with a cryptic message on Instagram about himself and Davis.

“The weatherman says the weather is changing soon and it predicts a thunderstorm is coming,” James said. “Folks prepare and take the proper caution measures to stay safe.”

Before that, James had alluded to his health with various workout photos via social media. It included him with his daughter in a walking boot last week that suggested he was still a bit of time away from his return.

James is in the middle of his six-week timeframe for a possible return to the floor this year. Meanwhile, Davis has continued to ramp up his workload in his recovery each week. All that led to the four-time league MVP voicing his excitement about what lies ahead in the coming weeks.

Before the Lakers faced the Nets on Saturday night, another encouraging update concerning Anthony Davis’ health surfaced.

ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Davis is expected to be re-evaluated by the team this week and could return to the lineup in the next 10 to 14 days. The Lakers are three games into their five-game road trip that concludes on April 13 against the Charlotte Hornets.

LA returns to staple center on April 15 to play the Boston Celtics, the first game the team will allow a certain number of fans back into Staples Center. Davis’ reported time frame would see him miss between five to seven more games.

Meanwhile, it’s believed LeBron James will take the entire six-week window for recovery from his injury. James would presumably be back in the mix by early May, missing approximately the next 10 games. That return timeline would give him about eight or nine games to play before the playoffs.

Beyond that, it’s clear that the Lakers are nearing closer to full strength to defend their NBA title.
