LeBron James reveled in the chance to tease Los Angeles Lakers teammate Anthony Davis after Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Bay Packers were demolished by the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Kyle Kuzma piled on as well, giving The Brow little space to process Green Bay’s stunning loss.
Davis’ football allegiances are a bit confusing, considering he’s a Chicago native. He might as well have been a Bears fan on Sunday.
Anthony Davis loves Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers
Anthony Davis might be a Windy City native, but he never took to the Monsters of the Midway. Instead, Davis chose to give his football fandom to Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.
Davis has attended multiple Packers games, including a playoff game at Lambeau Field in 2020. He told Rich Eisen back in 2019 that he fell in love with Green Bay when he was younger, mostly because the Bears weren’t very good at the time.
Davis also called himself a “big Aaron Rodgers fan” and cited the Randall Cobb-Kentucky connection as one of the reasons for being a Cheesehead.
The Packers had a tumultuous offseason. Still, Davis appeared to have plenty to look forward to, with Aaron Rodgers ending his holdout and leading a team that earned the No. 1 seed in the NFC last season.
Unfortunately for Davis, the reigning NFL MVP and the Packers came up well short against the Saints, exposing The Brow to all sorts of jokes from current and former teammates alike.
LeBron James and Kyle Kuzma trolled AD during the Packers’ blowout loss
Things got ugly in a hurry for Green Bay on Sunday.
The first quarter came and went without many fireworks, as the Saints held a slim 3-0 lead over the Packers. But New Orleans outscored Green Bay 14-3 in the second quarter, taking a 17-3 lead into the locker room. The contest devolved further in the second half, as Rodgers threw interceptions on consecutive drives.
Green Bay’s offense stalled all afternoon, and the Saints romped to a 38-3 victory. It was an embarrassing display from the Packers, who amassed just 229 yards of total offense and had three turnovers while possessing the ball for just over 25 minutes.
LeBron James had to remind his fellow Lakers superstar of the drubbing. James tagged Davis in a tweet, clearly alluding to the Packers’ blowout loss. It didn’t stop there, though. Kyle Kuzma also took a jab at his former Lakers teammate.
Week 1 probably didn’t go how AD envisioned. It certainly didn’t go as planned for Rodgers and the Packers, though the superstar quarterback quickly pointed out that the team has ample time to right the ship.
LeBron had a good laugh at Davis’ expense on Sunday, but his NFL teams didn’t fare so well, either.
LeBron James is an unhappy man after Week 1 in the NFL
At least Anthony Davis can take solace in knowing he took just one “L” on Sunday. James has already taken multiple as Week 1 draws to a close.
LeBron was a highly-recruited tight end in high school. He is also a Dallas Cowboys superfan as well as a Cleveland Browns homer. On Thursday, the Cowboys fought valiantly against the reigning Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers but ultimately came up short after a game-winning drive by Tom Brady and Co. Meanwhile, the Browns squandered a 22-10 lead against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Suffice to say, neither Lakers superstar will be overly thrilled with how Week 1 panned out.
