Mike Tyson Is Receiving Praise From Some UFC Stars

One of the greatest boxers to ever live could make a return to the ring. Mike Tyson has recently said that he wants to possibly make a return to boxing. He then posted a video of him training recently, showing that he still has a lot left in the tank. This is in spite of him being 53 years old and not competing in a professional bout in almost 15 years. That video was impressive, though. So impressive that it ultimately received praise from some UFC stars.

Mike Tyson had a great career as a professional boxer

Throughout his career, Mike Tyson was one of the greatest boxers to ever live. His professional record was 50-6 with 44 knockouts, according to BoxRec.

Tyson won two World Boxing Council heavyweight titles, one in 1986 and one in 1996. He had nine title defenses from 1986 through 1990, according to BoxRec. He also won two World Boxing Association heavyweight titles, one in 1987 and one in 1996. Tyson had eight title defenses for that from 1987 through 1990. Additionally, Tyson won one International Boxing Federation heavyweight title in 1987 and had six title defenses through 1990.

Tyson was also the first and only boxer to unify and defend the three world titles at heavyweight, according to BoxRec. He then retired from boxing in 2005. This came when he decided to quit while on his stool during a fight with Kevin McBride, also according to BoxRec. He ultimately lost that fight and three of the last four fights of his professional career.

Tyson looks to make a comeback

On Instagram Live with rapper T.I. recently, Mike Tyson announced that he has been training for a return to boxing.

“I do about two hours on cardio, I do the bike and I do the treadmill for an hour. Then I do some light weights – 300, 250 reps,” Tyson said, according to CBS Sports. “Then I start my day with the boxing thing. Then I go in there and hit the mitts for like 30 minutes, 25 minutes. Gotta get in better condition.”

Tyson admitted that the training can be tough on his body, though, saying, “I’m in pain. I feel like three guys kicked the s— out of me,” according to Insider.

He also said that he ultimately wants to do the fights for charity. “I want to go to the gym and get in shape to be able to box three or four-round exhibitions for some charities and stuff,” Tyson said, according to Insider. “Some charity exhibitions, make some money, help some homeless and drug-affected mother-f—– like me.”

Tyson then recently posted a video of him training, and it impressed a lot of people.

Impressing some UFC stars

In a recent video posted on social media, Mike Tyson showed that he still has a lot of speed and power, proving that he can definitely still handle himself in the ring.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan reposted the video on his Instagram, saying, “OH S–T!!! Don’t get me excited about this!!!”

Undefeated UFC star, the lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, also commented on Tyson’s video on Instagram. He said, “Can’t believe, this is another level.”

UFC stars were not the only celebrities who were impressed with Tyson’s abilities. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, tennis star Coco Gauff, and comedian Martin Lawrence all also commented on Tyson’s post.

Mike Tyson might be 53-years-old. He has not fought in over a decade either. He still has a lot left in the tank, though, and some stars from the octagon are impressed with what he can still do. Hopefully, he can get a chance to show what he can still do in the near future in some charitable exhibition matches.
