The last few weeks have seen the chatter around Mike Tyson possibly make a comeback ramp-up to increasingly more encouraging levels.

It had begun with a video of Tyson working out with his new trainer Rafael Cordeiro. He may have only been training, but he displayed some impressive strength and speed behind his punches. Tyson has also embraced the discussion by stating that he would be willing to take on any competition.

The 53-year-old has continued to show significant interest in making a return as several more videos of him working out have surfaced. Tyson looks to be in some tremendous shape that only further cement that the possibility of getting back into the ring is far more serious than initially thought.

That has seen several potential opponents line up that now may include the current heavyweight champion for his comeback match.

There have been several different possible opponents that have been tossed into the mix over the last couple of weeks.

The latest has seen WBC and The Ring heavyweight champion Tyson Fury voice to Boxing on BT Sports that he received and accepted the opportunity to fight the 53-year-old.

“I did get a phone call with a chance to fight Mike Tyson. I was like ‘what!’ Yeah, I had a phone call saying ‘would you like to fight Mike Tyson in an exhibition fight?’ I was like ‘hell yeah!’ But I don’t think anything’s materialized out of it to be honest. I think he’s definitely serious about doing some fights.

Although Fury did voice that the phone conversation didn’t exactly lead to it formally being accepted, it does put on the table that the two could fight. The 31-year-old is one of the best boxers in the world and is coming off a convincing win against Deontay Wilder back in February.

There could be the hurdle of first handling the rematch against Wilder, but it looks like Fury is more than intrigued about the chance to fight Tyson.

The fact that this even on the table is quite remarkable as Fury is currently one of the top fighters in the sport.

He is in the prime of his career, and the possible match against the fighter that he is named after is an incredible opportunity. There would be so many storylines that come with the territory that could make this a marketing gold mine for the promoters that could earn lucrative profit through it all.

Tyson did struggle in his final few professional fights, but there is this renewed interest in him, especially with the fact that he would be back in the ring at age 53. It’s hard not to be intrigued by seeing him give it a go after a nearly 15-year absence with a chance to put another impressive mark on his boxing resume.

Beyond that, it could net a sizeable financial gain for charity, given the popularity of each fighter. If all the aspects around the fighting can be worked out, it would undoubtedly be the match that would generate tremendous interest worldwide.
