NBA: Klay Thompson Voices High Praise Towards LeBron James and Anthony Davis

The Los Angeles Lakers made the big-splash move this past offseason by acquiring star forward Anthony Davis to pair alongside four-time league MVP, LeBron James. It has quickly put the Lakers back on the map towards being considered one of the best teams in the league. The move has also caught the attention of Warriors All-Star guard Klay Thompson, who recently voiced huge praise towards the Lakers’ new duo.

Following months of speculation, the Lakers were able to piece together a deal with the New Orleans Pelicans to pry away Davis, who some believe may be the best player in the NBA.

There had been chatter throughout the season stemming from the previous summer that the star forward was eyeing a move to join the Lakers to play alongside James. All of these rumors began after Davis fired his longtime agent and hired Rich Paul, who is a longtime close friend of the 15-time All-Star.

Los Angeles nearly acquired him before the trade deadline, but the two sides couldn’t agree on the terms of a deal. Nonetheless, Davis is now in Los Angeles, paired with James in a position to help lead the Lakers back to the playoffs.

The addition of Davis has brought forth plenty of buzz around the Lakers with high expectations for lies ahead in the 2019-20 season.

It has also enthused Warriors star guard Klay Thompson to voice strong praise towards the new star pairing in Los Angeles by stating that he believes they are one of the top frontcourt duos in the league.

The Lakers have the luxury of possessing one of the top frontcourt pairings, which could be argued as also being among the best duos in the league. They may only be bested by what the L.A. Clippers have with their star forwards Kawhi Leonard and Paul George leading the charge.

As Thompson alluded to in the exclusive interview with his father, Mychal Thompson, the Western Conference has become even more stacked with the star movement this past offseason. It sets up what should be an exciting season where several teams could be in serious contention for an NBA title.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis off to a strong start

Through the first two preseason games, Lakers fans have been buzzing with excitement after seeing the promising cohesion that both Davis and James have played with on the court.

The star forwards have displayed some strong chemistry on the court from the get-go as they have worked well in a two-man game. James’ passing ability has helped quickly build a stable connection that has excelled pick-and-roll situations or dishing the ball to Davis down low in the paint.

The Lakers have also made it an emphasis to make the 26-year-old the focal point of the offense that led him to put up a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds in just 18 minutes in the preseason opener against the Golden State Warriors. Davis has been able to feed off James’ play by proving to be a highly-effective factor on both ends of the floor.

Meanwhile, James has continued to showcase that he’s still an elite player in the league after coming off an injury-riddled first campaign in Los Angeles. The two also played well in their second preseason action on Thursday against the Brooklyn Nets, totaling 36 points in limited action.

It may be too early to truly assess the situation given that it’s only the preseason, but it’s hard to ignore the strong start Davis and James have had on the court together.
