3 Teams That Could Be Sellers At The NFL Trade Deadline
We are just about a week away from the 2024 NFL trade deadline. We saw a flurry of action last week when Davante Adams, Amari Cooper, and others were shipped off to new places, and there are still rumors of teams that could be buying or selling ahead of next Tuesday’s deadline.
Which teams have seen their seasons go the wrong way and are ready to ship off some of their pieces? Here are three that could wind up being sellers as we approach the final days of trade eligibility:
NFL Trade Deadline: 3 Teams That Could Be Sellers
Tennessee Titans
The Titans have already done plenty of in-season dealing so far this year, dealing away Hopkins and linebacker Ernest Jones. But they might not be done, as they have very little to play for with a 1-6 record, and have some guys who could be trade bait.
Defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons is perhaps the biggest star on the team’s roster, and would garner plenty of interest around the NFL if the Titans were to make him available. And while things could change, Tennessee has already said that they are uninterested in trading Simmons away.
Other possible trade candidates include Arden Key and Harold Landry.
Cleveland Browns
Cleveland will likely wait to see the results of Sunday’s game against the Chargers before making any moves. Their underdog victory over the Ravens on in Week 8 gives the team a boost and keeps their sliver of hope alive for the season, and they may feel as though they are a win or two away from getting back in the mix.
But should they drop to 2-7, then they may punt on the season by making some of their players available via trade. Could Myles Garrett be one of them? There hasn’t been any actual rumors surrounding the team and their prized defensive lineman, but it could be a money-saving move that the team looks in to as they go forward.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars are drowning in the AFC South with a 2-6 record after losing to the Packers on Sunday. They have little else to play for going forward, and could start their rebuild process by trading some of their pieces for future assets, and that could include wide receiver Christian Kirk.
Kirk is a couple of seasons removed from being a 1,000 yard receiver, and has just 27 catches and 1 touchdown through Week 8 of 2024. But his decline in production has been in line with the closing of Jacksonville’s “window”, and he may be able to be productive in a new NFL setting and situation.
