De’Aaron Fox Trade Odds: Spurs, Rockets Favored To Land Sacramento Star

Sacramento Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox was added to the pool of available trade targets last week. His future with the team that drafted him was put into question after he turned down a contract extension last summer, and the Kings are now fielding calls ahead of the upcoming trade deadline.
His availability immediately makes him the most sought-after name on the trade market. But which NBA city will be his next? Here are the odds on where Fox will land, according to BetOnline.
Which Team Will Trade For De’Aaron Fox?
San Antonio Spurs (-175)
When the news broke that De’Aaron Fox would be made available, it was also reported that he had a preferred destination in mind. It was quickly revealed that it was the Spurs that he had in mind, and the talk and speculation have surrounded that option in the days since.
San Antonio makes the most sense for multiple reasons. The Spurs have a budding young star in Victor Wembanyama, and are looking to surround him with the right pieces in order to bring their franchise back to an elite status. Fox would be a perfect fit, a point guard entering the prime of his career and a hunger for deep playoff runs. The Spurs have plenty of young talent to be able to send back to Sacramento in return, and also own some valuable picks in upcoming drafts.

Houston Rockets (+300)
Could he return to Texas to play for his hometown team? Fox grew up in the Houston area, playing his high school days about 30 miles from the Toyota Center at Cypress High School in the city of Katy. It has always been a rumored destination if he ever left the Kings, and the Rockets are now listed as the second-likeliest option, according to the odds.
But would they want to disrupt the momentum that they’ve built this season? The Rockets are perhaps the biggest surprise of the 2024-25 NBA season, and have been alone in 2nd place in the Western Conference since the beginning of January. Bringing in a point guard who averages over 25 points per game would force the team to adjust, and it would be understandable if they kept their current core together.
Miami Heat (+400)
Jimmy Butler was previously the hottest name on the rumor mill, and Miami’s need to trade the him has been well documented. But the Kings are certainly not looking to bring in the disgruntled super star, as he has a gaudy contract and doesn’t even come close to fitting the team’s timeline. So the Heat are high on the board, but if a deal were to get done involving the two franchises, there would likely be a third team added to make it a three-way deal.
But a player like De’Aaron Fox could be exactly what Miami has been holding out for. There is a friendly connection as well, as Fox played with Bam Adebayo during his college days at Kentucky.
