Mirra Andreeva Has Familiar Opponent In Round of 32 At Porsche Tennis Grand Prix

Mirra Andreeva will face an all-too-familiar opponent in her Round of 32 match at the 2025 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix on Tuesday, April 15. Due to the withdrawal of Marta Kostyuk who was slated to be Andreeva’s opponent, her older sister Erika Andreeva has slid into Kostyuk’s place in the draw as a lucky loser.

This is the second time the Andreeva sisters have played each other. Last year at the Wuhan Open, Erika defeated Mirra in straight sets. Erika Andreeva is ranked World No. 97 and has beaten Top 10 players before, including Danielle Collins at that same Wuhan tournament.
Mirra Andreeva And Erika Andreeva have Williams sisters struggles
Serena and Venus Williams used to describe how difficult it was to play each other, and the Andreeva sisters have the same feelings. During the Wuhan match, there was a lot of second-guessing on what shots to make because each sister knew the other’s tendencies so well. It also was not a win accompanied by a big celebration for Erika, similar to what we were used to seeing when Serena and Venus faced each other.
Erika Andreeva is the eldest of the two Andreeva sisters at 20 years of age, but it is Mirra’s career that has skyrocketed in 2025 with two WTA 1000 wins in Dubai and Indian Wells. She defeated Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka en route to those wins. Mirra Andreeva is currently ranked World No. 7.
Mirra Andreeva, who turns 18 at the end of the month, plays doubles with Diana Shnaider and won an Olympic silver medal with her last year in Paris. The pair recently won the Miami Open doubles title.
Both Andreeva sisters are coached by women which is an anomally on the WTA Tour. Mirra Andreeva is coached by former Spanish player and Grand Slam champion Conchita Martinez. Erika Andreeva is coached by former Greek tennis player Eleni Kordolaimi.
