NASCAR Xfinity Series GOVX 200 Entry List: Dates, Event Times At Phoenix Raceway

Connor Zilisch stole the NASCAR Xfinity Series spotlight Saturday at Circuit of The Americas. Carson Kvapil said his JR Motorsports teammate deserved it, but took notes on the fellow rookie.
Highlighting a strong first-year driver class, the two rising pilots battled each other from the final restart until Kvapil’s right-front tire failed on Lap 61. Kvapil said he will remember how aggressive the racing became near the end.
Pacing the field during the final restart. Racing alongside Zilisch, Kvapil’s No. 1 Chevrolet was pushed aside by the No. 88 Chevrolet on Lap 46. Kvapil recaptured the lead six rotations later and attempted to hold off Zilisch, who created bumps on nearly every turn for two laps. On Lap 57, Kvapil locked up his machine and Zilisch went on to capture his second race in seven career circuit starts.
“I might have felt a little slighted there,” Kvapil said, as reported by NASCAR.com. “Just seemed like every corner we would just get blasted out of the way. And I mean, it is what it is.
“All these guys are super aggressive whenever you get to this level, but at the same time, it’s a little bit of a ‘What the heck, man,’ so definitely gonna put that in the back pocket and remember that for next time.”
The rookie learned a lesson from another rookie.
