Steelers Reportedly Interested In QB Daniel Jones

The Pittsburgh Steelers enter the offseason in need of a starting QB.
This is a weak draft class for QBs, so they will likely bring in a bridge QB for a year or two.
Most suspect the Steelers will bring Justin Fields back to start in 2025.
Another name has been brought up as a possible candidate to be under center for the Steelers in 2025.
Andrew Filliponi of 93.7 The Fan Pittsburgh posted on X “Source: There’s interest in former Giants QB Daniel Jones inside the Steelers organization. Quote: “The Steelers could do a lot worse than Jones.” With the belief he actually is a good fit for Arthur Smith’s offense. And Mike Tomlin’s preference for a mobile quarterback.”

Below, we discuss whether Daniel Jones would be a good fit for the Steelers and whether this rumor/report has any merit.
Would Daniel Jones Be A Good Fit For The Steelers?
Daniel Jones struggled with the Giants, despite receiving a big contract from them.
It was an awful deal by the Giants and they were not rewarded at all for it.
Daniel Jones was cut midseason by the Giants after they benched him.
Jones would not be a long-term solution for the Steelers. He would start for one year until the Steelers draft a QB in the 2026 Draft.
Pittsburgh should target Justin Fields first. Fields knows Arthur Smith’s playbook from last year and Fields has more upside.
However, if the Steelers do not bring Fields back, Jones could be a one-year solution for the right price.
However, he does not make the Steelers better or give them a better chance of winning a playoff game.
Pittsburgh has not won a playoff game in eight years and it will be nine years if Jones starts next season.
Does This Rumor Have Any Merit?
The Pittsburgh Steelers are constantly rumored to be interested in many players.
During the offseason, a lot of rumors and reports are not true.
Filliponi claimed last offseason that Brandon Aiyuk to the Steelers was a done deal but it did not occur.

Aiyuk remained with the 49ers and all the hoopla was for nothing. Most of this rumor began with Filliponi.
This is not to say that Poni’s post on X regarding Daniel Jones is completely false. However, considering the source, it needs to be taken with a grain of salt.
A lot of rumors and “reports” will come out regarding the Steelers but many are not accurate.
Time will tell if Filliponi’s post on X is true or not.
