A new player has entered the top-10 in highest paid wide receivers in the NFL this year. DK Metcalf was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, and promptly agreed to a 5-year, $150 million deal with his new team.

Where does this new money rank in terms of highest annual values at the position? And how long will his standing last?

Justin Jefferson remains atop the list. Before the 2024 campaign, the Vikings handed the ultra-talented wideout the largest contract ever for a player at the position, a deal that was worth $140 million over four years. It not only made Jefferson the highest paid WR in the game, but at the time was the highest earning non-quarterback in NFL history at $35 million annually.

A couple of months after Jefferson signed his deal, CeeDee Lamb climbed up to no.2 on the list of highest paid wide receivers. He and the Cowboys agreed to a four-year, $136 million deal, putting him $1 million shy of Jefferson’s yearly number.

With Metcalf’s new agreement with the Steelers, he now finds himself in the top-10. The $150 million overall value is the most ever at the position, and his annual salary of $30 million ties him with Tyreek Hill and Brandon Aiyuk for the 6th highest among wide receivers.

It is likely that most, if not all, players will move down the list when Ja’Marr Chase finally signs his deal. The Bengals superstar is arguably the league’s best bargain, still earning on his rookie contract. He has earned a Pro Bowl nod in each of his first four seasons in the NFL, and won the triple crown in 2024 by leading the league in catches, yards, and touchdowns.

Chase has been asking Cincinnati for a new deal for some time now, but the team has been playing hard ball. If no deal gets done this off-season, the 25-year-old will be playing in the final year of his contract in 2025.
