UFC Flyweight Jimmy Flick Eyes December Return After Injury Setback
Jimmy “The Brick” Flick, the UFC flyweight contender, is on the road to recovery following a tough loss in his last bout. The Oklahoma native recently opened up about his injury woes and his plans for a comeback before the year’s end with RG.org.
Flick’s last fight against Nathan Maness was a grueling affair that left him battered and bruised. Despite going the distance for the first time in his UFC career, Flick revealed he fought through significant injuries.
“I have a light tear in my MCL and a partial tear in a word that I can’t pronounce,” Flick explained. Initially slated for stem cell injections, his medical team opted for a more conservative approach with physical therapy and a knee brace.
The flyweight fighter also battled through what he thought was a broken rib during the fight. “I thought my rib was broken in round two when he kicked me in the body. That is when I really slowed down,” Flick recounted. Despite the pain, he chose to continue fighting, showcasing his trademark toughness.
Recovery and Return Plans
Currently, in the second phase of his physical therapy, Flick is optimistic about his return to training. “I got about three weeks left of that, then hopefully I’ll be cleared to go back to training,” he stated.
With his sights set on a quick return, Flick is eyeing the UFC’s last fight card of the year on December 14th in Tampa Bay, Florida. However, he remains open to short-notice opportunities as they arise.
All-American Wrestling vs. All-American Jiu-Jitsu
While unable to negotiate fights during his recovery, Flick has been contemplating potential opponents for his return. One name that stands out is Nick Piccininni, a former Oklahoma State University wrestler who recently competed on Dana White’s Contender Series.
“I would love the Nick Piccininni fight,” Flick expressed. “I grew up my whole life wrestling in Oklahoma. Unfortunately, I messed up my life at a young age and I wasn’t able to pursue my career as an actual collegiate wrestler.”

The potential matchup appeals to Flick as a classic wrestler versus jiu-jitsu practitioner showdown. “I think it would be a great match and Oklahoma will love it,” he added.
As Flick enters the second fight of his new four-fight UFC contract, he’s focused on ending the year strong and building momentum for 2025. His goal is to secure one more win this year, followed by two victories next year to complete his contract on a high note.
The flyweight division remains one of the UFC’s most dynamic weight classes, and Flick’s return will undoubtedly add more excitement to the 125-pound ranks. His ability to bounce back from this setback will be crucial in determining his trajectory in the division.
For now, fight fans can look forward to seeing “The Brick” back in action, potentially as soon as December. As he continues his recovery and prepares for his comeback, Flick’s resilience and determination serve as a testament to the fighting spirit that defines mixed martial arts.
