NFL: 3 Potential Upsets in Week 10

Upsets happen every week in the National Football League. It’s one of the main reasons why the NFL is far and away the most popular professional sports league in the country. With that being the case, here is a look at four potential upsets in Week 10 of the 2015 season.

Note: All upset picks are against the spread (ATS) picks.

1. Dallas Cowboys (2-6) over Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-5)

Point Spread: Buccaneers favored by 2 points

Something about the Buccaneers having more wins than the Cowboys just doesn’t make sense. In fact, if you had told us before the 2015 season began that the Buccaneers would have a better overall record than the Cowboys up to this point, we would have laughed in your face. With that being said, the main reason for the Cowboys’ poor start has been the lack of their two best offensive players, quarterback Tony Romo and wide receiver Dez Bryant, for most of the season.

After missing five games, Bryant is back in the lineup, and judging by his performance last week, the dynamic wideout is close to full strength. They will still miss Romo, but with the league’s best offensive line, the Cowboys — specifically running back Darren McFadden — should have no issues running the ball against Tampa Bay’s defense. On the other side of the ball, we see the Cowboys’ defense forcing multiple turnovers out of Tampa Bay quarterback Jameis Winston. Not only do we believe that the Cowboys will cover this point spread, but we also believe they will win this game outright.

2.  Arizona Cardinals (6-2) over Seattle Seahawks (4-4)

Point Spread:  Seahawks favored by 3 points

This game has the potential to be the best matchup of the week. The Seahawks want to keep their postseason hopes alive and stay in contention in the NFC West, while the Cardinals want to move one game closer toward a division title and possible postseason bye week. Based on how each team has performed in 2015 thus far, we favor Arizona to cover this point spread and possibly even win this game outright, despite Seattle’s homefield advantage. The difference, in our opinion, will be quarterback Carson Palmer, who is playing like a legitimate MVP candidate in 2015.

3.  Minnesota Vikings (6-2) over Oakland Raiders (4-4)

Point Spread:  Raiders favored by 3 points

Believe it or not, if the 2015 season ended today, both of these teams would make the playoffs. They both have rising stars at the quarterback position as well as above-average defenses. The major difference is that the Vikings have a bona fide superstar at the running back position in Adrian Peterson, who we believe will carry Minnesota to a hard-fought road victory in this surprisingly interesting matchup.
