Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo put up a strong outing by completing 24-of-33 passes for 243 yards and an 80.7 passer rating along with a rushing touchdown. The 49ers’ win came from an OVER (Offensive Value and Efficiency Rating) of 4.01, compared to the Rams’s OVER (Offensive Value and Efficiency Rating) of 12.39
It was the 49ers’ defense that set the tone holding a DVS (Defensive Value Score) of 1.88 for the game, compared to 0.53 for the Rams, behind four sacks and nine tackles for loss, and Zero touchdown(s). The Rams were unable to get anything going throughout the contest without star running back Todd Gurley, who was out due to a thigh contusion. Quarterback Jared Goff threw for a career-low 78 passing yards in the loss.
San Franciso gained separation in the second half, outscoring the Rams 13-0 to grab their fifth straight win to stay atop the NFC West.
