NFL: Drew Brees, Emmanuel Sanders Among 5 Best Fantasy Football Performers in Week 14

The first week of the fantasy playoffs featured some dominant performances across the board that led by owners a step closer to securing the championship. Some big-name players put forth clutch outings in the most crucial time of the fantasy football season. With Monday night action between NFC East rivals Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants left to play, here are a few of the best performances from Week 14 action.

5. Mitchell Trubisky

ESPN: 32.1 PTS

It has been a season that has featured plenty of ups and downs for Trubisky that have questioned his ability to play the quarterback position. The North Carolina product looked like more than a competent quarterback against the Dallas Cowboys last Thursday night, completing 23-of-31 passes for 244 yards with three touchdown passes along with 63 rushing yards and a touchdown.

That was easily his best outing of the season in what has been a frustrating campaign. Trubisky has now tallied north of 18 points in his last three straight contests, where he could avenge a disastrous season-opener performance.

4. A.J. Brown

ESPN: 33.6 PTS

Over the last several weeks, the Tennessee Titans have become a more offensively potent team with Ryan Tannehill under center. That has led to their passing game weapons becoming quite viable targets to depend on weekly. That led to their rookie wideout putting his best outing of the year with five catches for 153 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns along with 13 rushing yards.

Brown has quickly developed into a legitimate deep-ball threat that has tallied more than 100 receiving yards three times, including reaching that mark twice in the last three games. The Titans finally appear to have something special at the wide receiver position.

3. Emmanuel Sanders

ESPN: 34.1 PTS

In arguably the biggest game of the year, Sanders played a significant factor on the field as one of the driving forces to help the San Francisco 49ers grab an impressive win on the road over the New Orleans Saints. He posted seven catches for 157 yards with a touchdown along with a 35-yard touchdown pass.

It marked the third time this season that he has toppled more than 20 points in what couldn’t have come at a better time for fantasy owners. Sanders has been challenging to trust in your lineup the last few weeks, but for those who stuck firmly with him, it paid off hugely.

2. Jameis Winston

ESPN: 34.7 PTS

Winston has been the epitome of a rollercoaster ride throughout his career with many ups and downs. However, Week 14 was one of those huge ups as he torched the Indianapolis Colts defense for 456 passing yards with four touchdowns along with five rushing yards and a touchdown.

What has held Winston back has been being turnover prone throughout his career, which has surpassed more than 100 career turnovers. It has been tough riding with him, but he has picked it up in the few weeks with more than 20 points twice in the last three games.

1. Drew Brees

ESPN: 40.1 PTS

The Saints may have come out with the short end of the stick against the 49ers, but it shouldn’t diminish the masterful performance that Brees put together. The 40-year-old stepped up against one of the best defenses in the league by throwing for 349 yards with five touchdowns along with a rushing touchdown.

San Francisco simply had no answer to slow down Brees as he picked them apart throughout the contest. It marked his fifth game with more than 20 points in seven total appearances this season as age is still proving to be only a number. Brees will look to keep the ball rolling against the Colts next week.
