NFL Update: Mason Rudolph Knocked Out Cold in Head Shot From Earl Thomas

Moments after releasing a pass to James Washington in the third quarter, Mason Rudolph took a brutal hit to the head from Earl Thomas that appeared to knock him out cold before he even hit the ground. Rudolph’s body went limp as he fell, leading to Steelers players frantically calling for doctors.

Both teams came out on the field as a stretcher came out to pick up the injured quarterback. To everyone’s relief, Mason Rudolph regained consciousness and was able to walk off the field with the help of a trainer. The home crowd in Pittsburgh cheered loudly for this development after being stuck in stunned silence just moments before.

Charlie Batch reported that Rudolph is on his way to the hospital for further assessment. Undrafted rookie QB Devlin Hodges will play out the rest of the game in relief of Rudolph for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
