Odell Beckham Jr.‘s decision to join the Los Angeles Rams has drastically improved his NFL path ahead. Odell Beckham Jr. raised his stock with the Rams

Beckham’s disappointing tenure with the Cleveland Browns took a massive hit to his stock.

However, his brief stint with the Rams has done nothing but help his reputation and NFL future. It took him a few weeks to adjust, but he’s become a vital piece to the Los Angeles’ passing game. He tallied 27 catches on 48 targets for 305 receiving yards and five touchdowns in eight regular-season games.

Beckham played a pivotal role in the wild card round win over the Arizona Cardinals, recording four catches for 54 receiving yards and a touchdown. He has showcased he remains a dangerous red-zone threat and big-play factor.

Ahead of the divisional round matchup against the Buccaneers, his long-term future became a prominent discussion again.

Odell Beckham Jr.’s time as a ‘Great Teammate’ with the Rams might not be enough to keep him in LA long-term

As the Rams head into the divisional round matchup against the Buccaneers, it’s brought forth plenty of questions concerning the future of their roster.

Odell Beckham Jr. sits near the top of the list as he heads into free agency next offseason. Head coach Sean McVay recently addressed the pending matter, voicing that he’s thoroughly enjoyed having the Pro Bowl wideout around.

“Odell has been a real joy to be around,” McVay said. “I love working with him and we’re really enjoying that. What the future holds we’ll kind of see, but I certainly have loved every second of being with this guy.”

McVay added that Beckham has been a “great teammate” and fit in the locker room. Meanwhile, Beckham voiced that he could see himself returning to the Rams.

“Absolutely. It’s something to look at after the season,” Beckham Jr. said to the media on Saturday. “Wherever God wants me to be, is exactly where I’ll be. It’s not something that’s exactly at the forefront of my mind right now. (I’m) just so focused on the opportunity that we have here and the reason why I chose to come here and (I) just want to take full advantage of that and let the chips fall where they may. And God will always handle the rest.”

Beckham has fit smoothly into the Rams’ culture as a crucial piece to the offensive game plan. He’s become an invaluable red-zone threat while making several crucial catches that have played vital parts in Los Angeles’ success.

However, the pathway toward keeping the 29-year-old may become a difficult task due to his strong play in a Rams uniform.

OBJ will draw plenty of interest in free agency

Beckham’s performance since joining the Rams has done nothing but improve his value across the league.

He took a significant pay cut to join Los Angeles that will lead to him garnering lucrative contract offers in free agency. Beckham has proven he’s still a game-changing talent, especially in the red zone, and could still excel as a team’s No.1 passing game.

The Rams will put a concerted effort to bring him back, but it will be a difficult task as they are expected to be significantly salary-cap strung. It will require plenty of financial gymnastics from the front office to create notable salary-cap space. Meanwhile, Los Angeles may not have a chance to re-sign him as he could garner a contact out of the realm where they could afford it.

Teams such as the New Orleans Saints, Green Bay Packers, or Seattle Seahawks could make a strong push to add the star wideout. Time will tell, but it may be too steep a financial hill to climb for the Rams to keep him.
