Brady and the Buccaneers Knocked Off the Football Team in a Hard-Fought 31-23 Victory

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers knocked off the Washington Football Team in a hard-fought victory of 31-23, Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021 in FedEx Field in Washington. For the win, Tom Brady threw for 381 yards, and two touchdowns. The Buccaneers also relied on a rushing game that produced 142 yards and one rushing touchdown.

Brady ended the game with 381 yards passing, to go along with two touchdowns, zero interceptions, and completing 22 of 40 passes. This performance led to a 104.30 passer rating for Brady.

Leonard Fournette and Ke’Shawn Vaughn led the rushing game for the Buccaneers. Fournette rushed for 93 yards from carrying the football 19 times. Fournette was helped by Vaughn who carried the football five times for a total of 21 yards. In the passing game, Brady was most successful throwing the ball to Chris Godwin and Mike Evans. Godwin caught five passes for a total of 79 yards, while Evans contributed with 119 yards from six passes.

Contributing to the victory was a defensive line stats of two sacks , no forced fumbles, one tackle for loss, and no defensive touchdowns for the Buccaneers.

For the losing team, Taylor Heinicke finished the game completing 26 of 44 passes to lead the way for the Football Team. This performance by Heinicke led to a QB rating of 78.40, and game stats of 306 yards, one interception and one touchdown.

The Football Team’ rushing game was led by J.D. McKissic and Antonio Gibson. For the game, McKissic carried the ball two times, rushed for five yards, and one touchdown. Gibson supplemented and carried the ball a total of 14 times for a total of 31 yards. Meanwhile Terry McLaurin and Cam Sims were the top 2 aerial passing targets for the Football Team. McLaurin caught six passes from Heinicke for a total of 75 yards, while Sims contributed with 104 yards from seven passes.

For the game, the Football Team defensive effort yielded two forced fumbles, four tackles for loss and three sacks. This was not enough to help their team to a victory.
