Riding a 280 yards total offensive output, the Carolina Panthers narrowly defeated the Washington Football Team in a thrilling victory of 20-13, Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020 in FedEx Field in Washington. Contributing to this victory, Teddy Bridgewater threw the football for 197 yards, and one touchdown. The Panthers also had a rushing game that produced 113 yards and one rushing touchdown.
Bridgewater finished the game with one touchdown, completing 19 of 28 passes. At the end of the day, he finished with 197 yards and one interception, and a passer rating of 85.00.
Trenton Cannon and Mike Davis led the rushing game for the Panthers. Cannon rushed for no yards from carrying the football zero times. Cannon was helped by Davis who carried the football 14 times for a total of 28 yards. In the passing game, Bridgewater was most successful throwing the ball to Robby Anderson and Curtis Samuel. Anderson caught seven passes for a total of 39 yards, while Samuel contributed with 106 yards from five passes.
The Panthers’ defense contributed to the win with three sacks, one forced fumble, four tackles for loss, and scored one defensive touchdown.
On the losing side of the game, Dwayne Haskins of the Football Team ended the day with no touchdowns, along with 154 yards, two interceptions, and a 36.90 passer rating.
The rushing game for the Football Team was led by J.D. McKissic and Antonio Gibson. For the game, McKissic rushed for 15 yards from carrying the football four times. Meanwhile Gibson carried the ball 10 times for a total of 61 yards. For the passing game, the top receivers for the Football Team included Steven Sims Jr. and Cam Sims. Sims Jr. caught four passes for a total of 52 yards, while Sims contributed with 63 yards from three passes.
For the game, the Football Team defensive effort yielded two forced fumbles, two tackles for loss and four sacks. This was not enough to help their team to a victory.
After the win, the Panthers now have a 5-10 record, compared to the Football Team who now have a 6-9 record.
