Carr and the Raiders Took Care of the Chiefs in a Gritty 40-32 Victory

Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders took care of the Kansas City Chiefs in a gritty 40-32 victory, Sunday, Oct. 11, 2020 in Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The Raiders’ win was helped by a rushing game that produced 144 yards and two rushing touchdowns, and by a 347 yards and three touchdowns effort by Carr.

Carr finished the game completing 22 of 31 passes, to lead the way for the Raiders. He ended up with an overall QB rating of 126.70, coming from a performance that included 347 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception for the game.

The ground game for the Raiders saw Devontae Booker carrying the football 7 times, and Josh Jacobs helping with rushing the ball 23 times. The two rushers produced 62 yards and 77 yards respectively in a winning effort. The passing game for the Raiders had Carr throwing the football to Nelson Agholor and Henry Ruggs III as his most productive targets. Agholor caught two passes for a net gain of 67 yards. The secondary target (Ruggs III) caught two passes for a net contribution of 118 yards.

Contributing to the victory was a defensive line stats of three sacks , no forced fumbles, one tackle for loss, and no defensive touchdowns for the Raiders.

In a losing effort for the Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes attempted 31 passes and completed 22 of them. This performance resulted in 340 yards, one interception, two touchdowns and a passer rating of 83.50 for the game.

The Chiefs’ rushing game was led by Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Darrel Williams. For the game, Edwards-Helaire carried the ball 10 times, rushed for 40 yards, and no touchdowns. Williams supplemented and carried the ball a total of one time for a total of four yards. Meanwhile Mecole Hardman and Tyreek Hill were the top 2 aerial passing targets for the Chiefs. Hardman caught two passes from Mahomes for a total of 50 yards, while Hill contributed with 78 yards from three passes.

In their loss, the Chiefs defense contributed with zero forced fumbles and two tackles to go along with one sack and zero defensive touchdowns. This production from the Chiefs defense was not enough help get a win.

With the win, the Raiders leave with a record of 1-0 for the season, while the Chiefs record for the season is now 0-1.
