Led by Brady, the Buccaneers Took Care of the Panthers by a Hard-Fought 31-17 Win

Riding a 339 yards total offensive output, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took care of the Carolina Panthers in a hard-fought victory of 31-17, Sunday, Sep. 20, 2020 in Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay. Contributing to this victory, Tom Brady threw the football for 217 yards, and one touchdown. The Buccaneers also had a rushing game that produced 122 yards and three rushing touchdowns.

Brady finished the game completing 23 of 35 passes, to lead the way for the Buccaneers. He ended up with an overall QB rating of 80.30, coming from a performance that included 217 yards, one touchdown, and one interception for the game.

Leonard Fournette and Ronald Jones led the rushing game for the Buccaneers. Fournette rushed for 103 yards from carrying the football 12 times. Fournette was helped by Jones who carried the football seven times for a total of 23 yards. In the passing game, Brady was most successful throwing the ball to Mike Evans and Justin Watson. Evans caught seven passes for a total of 104 yards, while Watson contributed with 48 yards from two passes.

The Buccaneers were helped by a defensive effort that resulted in five sacks, and two tackles for loss, to go along with two forced fumbles, with zero defensive touchdowns.

Compared to Brady of the Buccaneers, Teddy Bridgewater of the Panthers threw for 367 yards with no touchdowns, and two interceptions, completing 33 of 42 passes, for a 83.20 passer rating.

The Panthers’ rushing game was led by Christian McCaffrey and Mike Davis. For the game, McCaffrey carried the ball 18 times, rushed for 59 yards, and two touchdowns. Davis supplemented and carried the ball a total of one time for a total of one yard. Meanwhile Robby Anderson and D.J. Moore were the top 2 aerial passing targets for the Panthers. Anderson caught nine passes from Bridgewater for a total of 109 yards, while Moore contributed with 120 yards from eight passes.

For the game, the Panthers defensive effort yielded no forced fumbles, three tackles for loss and no sacks. This was not enough to help their team to a victory.

After this game, the Buccaneers improved to a record of 1-0, while the Panthers dropped to a 0-1 record. After the win, the Buccaneers now have a 1-0 record, compared to the Panthers who now have 0-1 record.
