Led by Dalton, the Cowboys Knocked Off the 49ers by a Gritty 41-33 Win

The Dallas Cowboys knocked off the San Francisco 49ers in a gritty victory of 41-33, Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020 in AT&T Stadium in Dallas. For the win, Andy Dalton threw for 209 yards, and two touchdowns. The Cowboys also relied on a rushing game that produced 87 yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Dalton finished the game completing 19 of 33 passes, to lead the way for the Cowboys. He ended up with an overall QB rating of 96.60, coming from a performance that included 209 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions for the game.

Rico Dowdle and Tony Pollard led the rushing game for the Cowboys. Dowdle rushed for 11 yards from carrying the football four times. Dowdle was helped by Pollard who carried the football 12 times for a total of 69 yards. In the passing game, Dalton was most successful throwing the ball to CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup. Lamb caught five passes for a total of 85 yards, while Gallup contributed with 26 yards from three passes.

With two forced fumbles, two tackles for loss and two sacks , the Cowboys got just the defensive help it needed to get the win.

For the 49ers, Nick Mullens ended the day having completed 21 of 36 passes, leading to 219 yards, two interceptions and two touchdowns. His performance resulted in a QB rating of 71.40.

The rushing game for the 49ers was led by Jeff Wilson Jr. and Raheem Mostert. For the game, Wilson Jr. rushed for 60 yards from carrying the football 16 times. Meanwhile Mostert carried the ball 14 times for a total of 68 yards. For the passing game, the top receivers for the 49ers included Brandon Aiyuk and Kendrick Bourne. Aiyuk caught nine passes for a total of 73 yards, while Bourne contributed with 86 yards from four passes.

Although their team lost the game, the 49ers defense ended the game with two sacks, and three tackles for loss, to go along with no forced fumbles.

The Cowboys walked away from the game with an improved seasonal record of 5-9. The 49ers on the other hand, dropped to 5-9 for the season.
